Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick Arraignment Blog

"Not guilty"

Mayor Kilpatrick ducked in a back door. He should have come through the front because there are a lot of supporters here in the hallway. Anyway, he plead "not guilty."

. . .Kilpatrick didn't believe that fat meat is greasy.  He still refuses to vacate the
honorable office of mayor, to which he has no honor.  He'd rather wait until the
sheriffs haul him down the freight elevator in handcuffs before it dawns on him
that he is a felon, and not the mayor.

Out of curiosity,

What (other than resignation) methods are there for removing the mayor from office? Is being convicted of a felony charge one of them, or could he be mayor from behind bars? Who calls for a recall election, and why hasn't that happened yet?

The mayor , his cronies, family members, and many of the city's civil servants that surround the mayor, are not only narcisstic , thik only of themselves and think (or thought) they are above laws and moral codes, and despite any misdeeds, and misconduct, they still want to hold on to the power, perks, and money that  they have benefitted from or suffer.  Kilpatrick and the others will not admitt to any wrongs, and will continue to tell the public that what they see is not what they really see.  Then again, if the mayor resigns, and goes without his huge salary and expenses, how will his cronies get paid and he pay his high priced attorney fees ?

Well, I have to wonder why yesterday when the Mayor turned himself in, he was riding in a Ford SUV, while today when his EPU staged that elobarate stunt they showed up in the Escolade.

Shows that at times the Mayor can ride in a regular SUV, but he again has to have that expensive SUV for show.

Shows where the city's money is going. They should sell the Escolade and let the Mayor ride in the regular SUV

I can not believe that this news station got played and now it is blaming it on the mayor. I was watching this station when the mayors SUV pulled up, and I could not believe that you all thought the mayor was going to get out of the vehicle. Any foul could see that he was already in 36th district court. Now I see on the news that your station is saying that the mayor played a hoax on you and the rest of the media. Now I don't pretend to care whether or not the mayor is guilty or innocent. But I am tried of hearing about how much money it cost tax payers ever time the mayor picks this nose. Someone over there needs to grow up and report the news not fables. I find it hard to believe that you all think that the public is that stupid. But maybe this is why I only watch the news for the weather....... Get real channel 7. You all looked like fouls, and its no ones fault but your own. The editor should have let this one go. Or maybe you should let him/her go.

The mayor should give it up. He not only is a embarrassment to the city but the whole state. His comments are not only insane but they provoke racial tensions with the purpose of deflecting his guilt by getting the black community to think this is white against black issue.

LYING / THIEVING / CHEATING Kwame Kilpatrick is a total disgrace to himself as well as Detroit. He should be thrown out of office. Why should we continue paying this predator and his band of thugs aka Administration for being corrupt. THANK YOU to all of the different entities of the MEDIA for bringing us dirt we would'nt have otherwise ever known about. Keep up the good work and continue with the truth.

THE MAYOR SAID HE WOULD BE CLEARED OF ALL CHARGES RIGHT? HE ALREADY ADMITTED HE AND HIS WIFE DEALT WITH HIS AFFAIR WITH CHRISTINE BACK IN 2003 AND HE APOLOGIZED ON NATIONAL TV FOR HIS ACTIONS. THE TEXT MESSAGES SHOWED HE AND CHRISTINE LIED ABOUT FIRING THE OFFICERS SO A HONESTCHRISTIAN MAN WOULD ACCEPT HIS PUNISHMENT RATHER THEN WASTING MORE MONEY ON HIGH PRICED LAWYERS NOT TO DISPUTE RATHER OR NOT HE LIED BUT HOW WE FOUND OUT ABOUT THE LIES.

THIS ALL APPEARS TO BE ONE BIG GAME TO THE MAYOR. HE HAS PLAYED WITH CITY FUNDS, PLAYED WITH CITY COUNCIL, PLAYED WITH THE EMOTIONS OF THE PEOPLE OF DETROIT DIVIDING US BY HIS LOYALIST AND THOSE WITH INTEGRITY AND WHO SEEK A HONEST AND FAIR LEADER, HE HAS PLAYED WITH THE COURT SYSTEM AND HE PLAYS WITH THE MEDIA. HOPEFULLY ONE DAY HE WON'T BECOME BUBBA, LEROY AND SKILLETS TOY.

We, the citizens of Detroit, are tired of outsiders trying to urge us to be so quick to turn on our leaders.  Why not allow justice to take its course?  What happened to 'innocent until proven guilty?'  Many of the people who have attacked the Mayor are liars themselves!  He without sin cast the first stone?  If you preach that Christ forgives us all of our sins and that He died on the cross for each and everyone of us, could He possibly forgive the Mayor for any misdeeds he may have done?

I pray that the family of Tamara Greene gets justice and her murderers, i.e. all involved, are indeed brought to justice.  However, I support due process of law and pray that the evidence finds its way in the hands of fair and impartial jurors of the Mayor and Ms. Beatty's peers not zealots who are bent on seeing these people destroyed!

Michael X, are you insane?!
I just have one question-how much money has the good mayor collected between his defense fund and the churches?  I do hope the people of Detroit were not generous with their offering this past week!

I am a former Michigan resident, had to work so had to move.  I am grateful to Kwame for givng me some much needed entertainment!  Hasn't changed much since I lived there, it's just coming out now.  The hip-hop-hood-rat Mayor might get caught this time-we'll see!
