The latest installment of the New to the Collection exhibit features a variety of recently collected artifacts on display – including an array of items mined from Tiger Stadium last year.

Among the artifacts from the legendary ballpark at Michigan and Trumbull on display, donated by the City of Detroit and the Detroit Tigers, are the following:

·        An original brass ticket window from the 1930s;

·        Orange turnstile #40 used through the final game in September, 1999;

·        A set of 4 orange seats numbered 1-4.

Other new artifacts from the collection that will also be featured in the exhibit include:

·        A natural leopard coat with ranch mink collar purchased at Rollins Furs in Detroit from 1967, donated by the Herbert Family;

·        A beer barrel from the Schmidt Brewing Company of Detroit circa 1933-1951, donated by Bob and Esther Sarkozy;

·        A mohair cape and matching hat from the Hudson’s downtown store on Woodward.  The donor, Marjorie Benedict Shultz, was the fashion coordinator for the Woodward Shops from 1948 to1950.

·        A collection of Detroit-themed t-Shirts ranging from 1975-2000 donated by Dan Graschuck.

A popular item on display in the exhibit since September will be retained -- a bronze mouse created by noted Michigan sculptor Marshall Fredericks as part of “The Lion and the Mouse” sculpture on display at Eastland Center since 1957.
