Write To Woof
Write To Woof Rescuing Dogs One Word At A Time
Sponsored by Wolfe Technologies, Inc., Write To Woof
is a fun, flowing-fingers approach to writing. Contributors begin
writing July 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) book by
midnight, July 31 while raising money to support the efforts of
Guardians For Animals, a Michigan-based rescue agency.
I
am writing today to ask for your support. I have become tremendously
frustrated with the recent decline in the literacy rate in America. I
have also been equally frustrated with the increase in homeless dogs
becoming prisoners in shelters across our country. It is my intention,
by starting the Write To Woof
campaign, that we raise awareness of the many dogs who are trapped in
shelters, and find them new homes, while simultaneously infusing a new
enthusiasm for writing. Perhaps, along the way, we can inspire some
people to become adoptive parents, and experience the delight of
writing with a furry friend curled up under their desk.
 Too
often, fund raising efforts require that we spend hours outdoors,
walking through blistering heat and endure blistering feet in order to
raise money for a cause be believe in. Write To Woof
offers a chance for those who want to help but don’t want to suffer, a
fingers-on approach to experience the joy of giving selflessly to
another living creature, while doing something they love. Write To Woof is a fun, flowing-fingers approach to writing. Contributors begin writing July 1. The goal is to
write a 175-page (50,000-word) book by midnight, July 31 while raising money to support the efforts of Guardians For Animals,
a non-profit organizaton and their rescue affiliates. All the proceeds
will directly support rescues who save dogs and other animals from
death row in shelters, and work toward finding homes for animals who,
out of no fault of their own, have become homeless.
Our contributors are lovingly called ‘Woofers’
and the only thing that matters during this month of writing is, well,
writing. It's all about quantity, not quality. This
'type-and-see-what-sticks' approach forces you to lower your
expectations, take risks, and just write. Freely and Simply. That’s
right, no devastating critiques; no points removed for improper
spelling ... just massive amounts of writing. We can all worry about
the editing process after we've amassed 50,000 words! As Woofers spend July writing, they can draw comfort from the fact that other Woofers are going through the same joys and sorrows of producing the next #1 New York Times Bestseller.
Our
goal during this manic month is to raise at least $10,000 to aid in the
rescue of shelter dogs, while simultaneously transforming a minimum of
20,000 mechanics, computer geeks, out-of-work-actors, English teachers,
coffee shop employees, UAW workers, students, grocery store baggers,
retired grandparents, and other assorted 'regular folk' into
accomplished writers. We invite you to join us ... Wouldn't you like
to be a Woofer too? Log on to our website at www.WriteToWoof.org to register today!
If you are not interested in becoming a Woofer, I hope that you will see the value of this project, and help promote our efforts by donating to Write To Woof and by forwarding this message to everyone in your address book. Please visit our website at www.WriteToWoof.org to learn more about how you can donate and help find homes for shelter dogs everywhere.
Guardians For Animals is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
