Free classes open to moms and seniors

Health Alliance Plan (HAP) is offering Moms in Motion and Senior Splash Bash, which are water aerobics classes, at two Detroit sites. The free programs are not limited to HAP members.

The senior classes give a low-impact, calorie-burning workout. The moms program helps women get in shape to keep up with their kids and have energy to spare to take care of themselves. While the programs target mothers and seniors, any adult is welcome.

Beginning Feb. 18, 2009, anyone who does not own a digital set and still gets their programming via over-the-air antennas will no longer receive a picture.That's the day the television industry completes its transition from old-style analog broadcasting to digital.

Starting January 1, 2008, all U.S. households will be eligible to request up to two coupons, worth $40 each, to be used toward the purchase of up to two, digital-to-analog converter boxes. The converter boxes are expected to cost between $50 and $70 and will be available at most major electronics retail stores.

Explore life at the icy poles in these freehands-on family workshops! Plus, on March 8, buses will take kids and adults to Discovery Day at the Exhibit Museum in Ann Arbor, where there will be fun polar science activities.
