If the legal system does not go after the mayor we need to take a good look at Kim Worthy.  Remember Coxs did his investigation after he left the party at the mansion. That is why he did not want to testify at the trial. He too needs to be on his way.

It comes with running for elected office.  What happened to leading by examle?  When you use taxpayer money for personal gain/business then you shouldn't be suprised scutiny comes knocking at your door.  Kwame has done a great dis-service to the city and its taxpayers.  The millions the city has shelled out to settle lawsuits, that appear directly related to his attempts to cover up this affair, will haunt Detroit for years to come.  The city services that will be lost through lost of revenue can only be matched by the declining population.  The only real question left to ask is will the Hip Hop mayor be re-elected?

This doesn't surpise me at all.  I never voted for him and wasn't moved because he was the youngest running for Mayor at the time.  Both Kwame and Beatty need to be in jail even if its for a day.  I believe, Worthy and Cox will not push the matter as they have proven on past investigations.  My heart goes out to Ms. Kilpatrick and the kids.  This is just the begining of thinmgs to come.  We can go back in history and see leaders from all walks whether President, Governor, Mayor, Congress and lets not forget Minister, who have tasted life's forbidden fruits. Its time for leaders to be held accountable for their actions.

Please, could you pay that TEN MILLION  DOLLARS plus legal fees that I as a tax payer and homerowner have to pay?  It really would be nice of you since you are so understanding and maybe we could get more police protection  and recreation centers for our children with that money;  come on... look under your door.

Mayor Kilpatrick is the mayor for The  City of Detroit. Please continue to address him as such, because he isn't your personal friend.  Mayor Kilpatrick is no different than any other politician.  Please remember everyone is human and we all make mistakes.  This situation needs to be evaluated correctly.  Mayor Kilpatrick has indicated he & his family have dealth with this 5 or 6 years ago. It is quite funny how many people are criticizing  Which most don't even pay taxes for Detroit.  Please allow the courts to pursue the case and not judge another man.  Rembember everyone will have their own day once Judgement arrives.

What a shame!!  Another scandal, another lie, what's next?  The next election should be interesting, but I would not be supprised if he were relected.

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

I am appalled and deeply saddened by the people that I hear defending Kwame after all he has done to damage the integrity and character of the City of Detroit.  His cheating was disgusting and rude enough, but to blatantly lie under oath as a lawyer and public official as a mayor should be grounds for immediate dismissal.

The business leaders of the city and metro area need to put the pressure on him to resign immediately.  He will only listen to money and they have it.

They  (Kwame and Christine) BOTH need to go.  Not one or the other, BOTH.  She should not be the scapegoat for THEIR poor decisions and indiscretion.  He was the elected official not her.

When they find evidence in those text messages that their WAS a party...(even though Mike Cox says their wasn't) and that Tamara Green was killed directly or indirectly due to the mayor's philandering...maybe THEN the people of Detroit will wake up and understand..that yalls' boy (as his mother would say) is a arrogrant prideful child who thought he was untouchable.... And that now people have DIED because of it....ummmm maybe then they will vote in someone with class, and someone that really is about DETROIT and not themselves.

I challenge the business leadership and CITY COUNCIL of Detroit to step up and think about our future, the future of your companies and employees and re-development...we will NEVER make it with him in office.

    RECALL KWAME IMMEDIATELY..

Prison, honestly, i don't think they belong in prison or should face criminal charges or that he should be impeached, i think that is a bit extreme. no, i'm not minimizing the situation, it's just that its so old. i do however think Christine Beatty's "time on the witness stand" was quite amusing. check it out, i know they'll run it on the news again today. look at her expressions, they're hilarious! Anyway, this will all be over soon.

This is for Caught on Tape,

First of all, you need to understand everyone that lives in Detroit does not like Kwame.  No, Detroiters don't deserve him as Mayor.  I for one, and a lot of others did not vote for Kwame the first time around or the second.  So, don't put all of us in the same category.  That's very racist!!!!  Yes, I agree that he should go to jail, Yes, I think he's a thug.  Yes, he is a disgrace and embarrassement to the City and THE SURROUNDING SUBURBS!!!!  So, please don't think that we all agrees with what he and Christine Beatty has done and are doing.....

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

I did not vote him in not once.  I am not a thief so I don't practice the code of  "honor among thieves".  I have a hard time using the word mayor so I do so with a small m.

Maybe stealing Navagators, motorcycles, thousands of dollars for trips does not bother you, (because I pay big taxes)  It bothesr me.  I show respect to anyone who deserves it.  If this is the first time you opened your eyes since he took office, that is your problem.

Ok.  You sound real Stupid with this "Afro Americans".  An Afro is a hair style.  To be politically correct,  it is called "African Americans"....  Yes, every big city has it's share of Crime.  Yes, Kwame has totally let this city down as far as crime goes.  I hate Kwame and everything he stands for.  The thing that pisses me off in this day and age is that people have their "racist" perception of the people of Detroit.  All of us are not Thugs, Gang Bangers.  A lot of us are harding working people that want good things for our kids and self.  Just because we are "African American's" don't mean we are all alike.....  You need to pray and ask God to help you to not think your "Superior" to others... I'm sure you have issues too!

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

I think enough is enough! Personal or in the past isn't the issue here! Kwame is a liar and should be prosecuted just as anyone else would be in the same situation. The fact that he lied under oath is huge but because that particular lie was relevent to the case and could have affected the outcome, should take away any doubts on whether or not he should be prosecuted. The question should be, whether he should be punished more severely for repeatedly scamming all of the taxpayers who obviously trusted and believed in him enough to re-elect him. Saying I'm sorry wouldn't cut it for me if I had voted for him. Yes, we are supposed to forgive and let God do the judging but forgivness won't get back anywhere near the amount of money he has cost the city of Detroit. Between the outright spending on personal vacations, parties, etc... the costs of the trial this summer and the judgements awarded, the countless scandals & who even knows what else hasn't been uncovered yet. To Mike Cox and Kim Worthy, I say if you don't step in and put an end to this, you are just as much to blame for the corruption and should also be investigated. To Reverand Peek, COME ON!!!!, Yes the texts were from the past, that does not excuse lying under oath just months ago to cover up his previous wrong doings to both his family and to the two gentlemen who lost their jobs for standing up and "doing their job". Stop sticking up for him and DO YOUR JOB, you are someone God has chosen to use to set an example and you should be reinforcing to our youth how corrupt Kwame really is!

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

Have you read the transcripts of the messages?  He lied under oath while in a trial about wrongful firings and demotions.  I do feel sorry for his children, but this is not to smear his good name.  It is to show that he lied under oath.  It is his fault that the messages speak of an affair.  He and Ms. Beattie swore on a bible just like the bible he swore on and took office.  By his actions he has not upheld, protected or honored our great city.  He has once again made us national laughing stocks and whipping posts!  He should step down from his position and let another leader take over and move our city away from this embarrassment and into the future!  He has chosen to put his family into this position and no one should feel sorry for him.  The real victims are his family and the people who love the great city of Detroit.  This goes way past his wedding vows.  He made a promise to all of us!

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

Thank you for your comments.  I have never been a supporter of Kwame.  My friends and family members (with the exception of two) do not support him either.  Just because a person is African-American and lives in Detroit does not mean that he/she approves of Kwame's behavior or the manner in which he has led this city.

    Truth

Sounds like he is following in the footsteps of Coleman Young. Another Crooked Liar. Will the City do anything? I don't think so.
