    The mayor should not resign!

To the media and all who have comments. The only people who should be commenting on what the mayor should do better be a resident of the city of Detroit. If you don't live in Detroit, pay taxes in Detroit, then you have nothing to say! If you are, you can force him to quit by voting him out of office at election time.

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

I believe the council made the correct decision for all the good it will do.  He will never resign.  He is extremely crafty and certainly will not abdicate his throne.  Why should he when public opinion doesn't matter to him?  I equate him to the old snake oil salesman and he's as slick as the oil he's selling.  I am so glad that he isn't my mayor but he is a joke for the whole area.  I have never seen anyone with such a sense of entitlement.

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

I think that Kilpatrick is a humiliation to Michigan. Everyone even children who have unfortunatly heard the sorry excuses that mayor Kilpatrick has come up with can understand that he is a mayor that we do not need to have us "Move Forward" Kilpatrick says he is ready to help us, but do we really know that he is not just going to drag us down again?? People always say dont judge a book by its cover and I believe Kilpatrick is just the cover that people  see and think that Detroit and Michigan is horrible. I am ashamed and disapointed that Kilpatrick has done the deeds that he had done and hopes that he resigns.

I am only twelve but i have a strong believe and should be taken seriously like everyone else in this democracy

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

I agree  with the council.  The mayor has brought great shame to not only the people of Detroit but all of us that live in Michigan.  I was quite elated when he was first elected because I felt he was a christian man and what a benefit that would be to Detroit.

He has conducted his lifestyle with little regard to be an example to anyone.  If he cannot discern between good and bad in his personal life ...how does he think that he has the ability to lead the people of the city of Detroit.

He doesn't want to resign because he knows he has it good under the guise of being a mayor.

    What a shame!

I think the Mayor should resign.  He has caused the city of Detroit to much embassement and humilation.  He is putting the blame on ALL the other people expect himself.  This is national news.  It's not good for the city.  Good for you Detroit City Council!

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

Resign now and do the city and the state a big favor. I do not want to invest my business with the city with this cloud hanging over its future. If the mayor is linked to the dancers death in any way the city will be sued for hundreds of millions of dollars and lose.

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

I do not live in the city of Detroit, but that being said I have been watching the news and even I can see the writing on the wall. I think that he has hurt the city enough and needs to resign. The sooner the bettter. This is getting old and boring. Everytime we turn on the TV there is always something new on the mayor and his problems. RESIGN, KWAME.

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

He needs to realize that he's the only one that thinks he is Gods gift to Detroit, and just get out. I feel sorry for his wife and boys, how much more disgrace is he going to subject them to?   His arrogance is revolting!

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

I appauld the City Council for their decision. If the mayor wants council to "get back to work", he needs to apply this advice to himself as he certainly isn't doing his job and is a disgrace to the city of Detroit!

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

As a resident and tax payer of the City of Detroit I want the Mayor to either resign or be recalled.  As a former 7.5 yr employee of the Detroit Water and Sewerage Deptartment (during the Kilpatrick Administation) I saw several employees lose there jobs for various reasons because they either cost the city money because of law suits resulting from their actions or for stealing from the City of Detroit.  Just as it was appropriate for those employees to lose their jobs for inappropriate conduct detrimental to the City, the Mayor should hold Himself or be held to the same standard that he applied to everyone else.  That would be a matter of integrity that would go a long way in terms of representation of the City of Detroit.

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

This non-binding resolution should have passed when council voted last time.  The vote this week should have been binding and with full authority, and it should have been unanimous if the council really had the citizen's best interests at heart, or any guts.  I don't understand the timidity of city council or the Council of Baptist Cowards.  This should have been done over a month ago.  It's pure insanity that this hasn't been taken care of yet.

The council did the right thing. If the mayor doesn't want to step down, then they need to remove him! Now!

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

City council might not have the power to get the mayor to resign but clearly the Jennifer Granholm does.  Don't she ( Granholm ) understand that Kwame has hurt the image of detroit and the state of Michigan enough.  It's time for Kwame to step down and let the president of council or someone more responsible to lead detroit in to the electonic future not kwame
