    Re: Mayor's Scandal: Prosecutor's Decision

True, but according to the City Charter, if he resigns before he is convicted, he can run again!  GMAB! (Time to rewrite the City Charter.)  If he is charged with a felony while in office, he can never run for the office again.  I think this guy knows he is going to be convicted and is just riding out the "golden goose" as long as he can, at the tax payers' expense.  And..I agree with you, once we actually get to June 9th, he will then try a plea bargain.  I can't actually believe this crook was actually elected a second time.

    Re: Mayor's Scandal: Prosecutor's Decision

If you are going to pass something  along, Let it be THIS!

Just a word to the wise. E-mail petitions  are
NOT   acceptable to Congress or any other municipality. To be acceptable, petitions must have a signed signature and full address. Same with "prayer chains" -- be wary.

Almost all e-mails that ask you  to add your name and forward on to others are similar to that mass  letter years ago that asked people to send business cards to the  little kid in Florida who wanted to break the Guinness Book of  Records for the most cards All it was, and
all this type of e-mail is, is to  get names and "cookie" tracking info for telemarketers and spammers to validate active e-mail accounts for their own purposes.

Any time you see an  e-mail that says  forward this on to "10" of your friends, sign this petition, or  you'll get good luck, or what ever, it has either an   e-mail  tracker  program attached that tracks the cookies and e-mails of those folks  you forward to, or the host sender is getting a  copyEach time it gets forwarded and then is able to get lists of "active" e-mails to use in Spam e-mails, or sell to others that do.

Please forward this notice to others and you will be providing a good service to your friends, and will be rewarded by not getting 30,000 Spam e-mails in the future.

(If you have been sending out the above kinds of email, now you know why you get so much Spam!)       Check it out:http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/petition/internet.htm  <http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/petition/internet.htm><http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/petition/internet.htm>  <http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/petition/internet.htm>

PLEASE NO MORE CHAIN MAILS !!!!

Belle Isle and our A$$hole mayor

A friend of mine tried to go to the Tiger game Sunday but it was rained out. Instead they ended up going to Belle Isle. Guess what? Not only is the Aquarium closed but the ..........dang I can't think of the name of it.............the greenhouse where they used to have all the plants is closed also!

Anyone realize that the Belle Isle aquarium was opened in 1903 and it took a Kwame Tsunami to close it. By the way, the ten million that those cops won in the lawsuit against the demon and horseface? That would have kept the aquarium in the black for 20 years.

Hey Tax - the plant place is called the Conservatory. Been closed awhile now.

Every Sunday I walk Belle Isle and have watched one of our jewels slowly decay. I used to watch people ride horses!! (Never had the $$, way to poor for that luxury!)

The City should give control to the Metroparks and have them clean it up. Obvious that the City will never bring it back.

    Re: Snacpac1w - Re: Retirement/Medical

Laura, I would have to look this up, as this is a rare question, that may have more to do with human resource contracts than accounting. But, just off the top of my head, I would think that the date of service would be the date sworn in. The date of election is for a future position to serve during a future service period. Also until the official is actually sworn in they are considered the "in coming" whatever the position is. If income is received prior to the term start date, it must be reported regardless.

Now don't quote me on any of the above, because at this point I'm guessing. I will look this up to see if either the IRS code or the State of Michigan tax code address this issue.  Sorry I don't have a better answer for you.

Monica Conyers failed the bar exam several times.

So...even if they vote to remove the Mayor he doesn't have to go, right? this is just as non-binding as the last time they voted that he should resign. Granholm isn't going to do anything. i agree with the person who said the recall petition has the best chance of actually impacting the Mayor.

THIS IS RUNNING THE CITY OF DEBTROIT.

The resolution that the Council's attorney, Goodman, is drafting now is a NON-BINDING resolution. I think that in order to send a petition to the governor, they are going to do multiple steps with the final step, or resolution, sent to Grandholm.

I believe the reason they are doing it this way to close up any loop-holes that Kwame's mouthpieces could possibly find.

Remember it might not be a horrible thing for Kwame to remain in office until the end of the trial. If he is ousted or resigns now he will be able to run again for Mayor. If he is found guilty (and the likelihood is great) then he can never hold office again.

Be careful of what you wish for - Conyers as President of City Council will cause more damage than Kwame remaining in office for another 5 months.

Well, I get to correct myself, AGAIN. Saw on the news tonight that Council finally decided NOT to go to the Governor but instead begin Censure. Take ONE AND A HALF YEARS and cost $500,000.

Now, next November (2009) there will be the Mayoral election. Now, if I count using all of my fingers and toes, that is 18 months from now.

WHY ARE YOU GUYS DOING IT THEN????

Trying to look good, like you're doing something? TOO LATE.

    IDIOTS, THEY'RE ALL IDIOTS!!!!

(I feel much better now ........ thanks for letting me yell.)

That was my guess too - Mayor - elect, President-elect etc.

If you get around to it I guess you can still look it up. But I think your thought is right that date of service for benefit purposes would be swearing in day.

Looks like the rumor of Kwame staying in office until November for vestment purposes is just that, a rumor.

    Thanks

You know at this point with all the money being wasted on this scandal, I wish the clowncil would just do go back to regular business. They have yet to produce an effective action in response to the situation. Every single thing that they have done is non binding. WTF!!! WTF!!! WTF!!! Just more money and time wasted. WTF!!!
