Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

I do believe the City of Detroit, in electing him, expected him to tell the TRUTH!! Further, I DO NOT believe they expected him to cost the city billions of dollars because he can't tell the TRUTH!  A person's private life SHOULD be their own but when you run for PUBLIC office, your life, your honesty and your integrity are on the line, of which KWAME HAS none!

The mayor stated he had already told his wife years ago and they had worked through the problems. Then why did he lie under oath last year? Time for the long suffering wife to tell tubs to hit the road. Time for the people of Detroit to tell him the same thing. Both he and his assistant should be dismissed from there positions. And have to repay the city the 9 million dollars there lies cost the city  of Detroit.

GET HIM OUT!!!!!!  Lets show the young people of Detroit that Crime does not pay!!!  What better example then the one they look up to as a mentor.  A mentor to CRIME!  Come on he has disgraced the State of Michigan, World wide!!!  Take his right to practice Law away, as he does not honor it by example.  Even his parents stand behide him...is this their teaching.....they have know the whole truth for years.  Thank goodness for Honest Police....I always was on their side!!!!  Thank you to the one who gave this info to the Press. This story has whirled around for years......now lets also look into the death of the woman who was murdered.....there is something smelly about that also!

This is the best post I have seen so far.  It doesn't matter what the lie was.  It is the fact he feels that he is above the law and does not need to tell anyone the truth if it does not benefit himself.  I doubt very much that they will prosecute because our justice system is bent to fit the needs of the so called "powerfull".

    Ok Kiwimangodiva,

We understand that he is a man, but the facts are as follows:

He lied under oath... that is perjury.... Jail time

He along with her have cost the city of Detroit over $9.0M. Who's paying for that?

He is in an office that is very public and after lying so much what else has he been covering up or stealing from the people of Detroit?

He knew he had children and she knew she had children, or did that escape there minds in the heated sex that they were having?

Your statements are excuses along with his and hers, that's why they are in hiding now. They are guilty and need to be removed out of office along with all his people.

All that money, 9 million $$ spent to hide something he knew would surface at some point. The guy should be punished. Community service, without bodyguards. Unbelievable. That's all you can say. Unbelievable!

Yes, he had an affair but the really tradgy is the human casualty.   He theatened two men's lively hood by abusing his power. Yes he should step down, he does not care about this city or it's people. He fired two people from this city that were simply just doing their job's. Now this is what we call Black on Black crime.

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

This is ridiculous! There are people who are saying that former President, Bill Clinton, did the same thing, perjure himself when asked about a sexual indiscretion, which is true. However, it still doesn't make it right. The difference between former President Clinton and Mayor Kilpatrick is that we, the nation, was in a financial upsweep. We had a surplus. We were doing well financially, speaking as a nation under Clinton't administration weather you liked him or not.  His, Clinton's, personal actions, did not adversely affect our economy or his ability to lead. In comparison to what is going on now in Detroit, we are in a economic crisis! The $9 million and the $6 million in damages that WE, the tax payers of the city, have to pay the two officers who brought charges against the city, could have been better used for services that we so DESPERATELY need like tearing down the abandoned buildings that are on virtually every street.

The Mayor should have LEARNED from Clinton's mistake. Don't say you didn't do something if you did. Unfortunately, public officials, lives are in the spotlight. Not saying that, that is right-it is a reality.

I'm not going to say what he should do but if and/or when a recall petition comes my way, I will definitely sign it so it can be put on the ballot in the upcoming November election or special election if need be.

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

How long will the people of Detroit allow themselves to be made fools of by this mayor? He has betrayed his wife, the citizens of Detroit and his oath of office. Tbe citizens of Detroit deserve a mayor they can believe in and trust. Citizens of Detroit if you refuse to remove the mayor from office you only have yourselves to blame....Dan Allen/ Waterford

    kllful72:

I completely agree. Kwame should resign. If Bill Clinton can be impeached for lying underoath, then why not Kwame? Yes, this is a personal issue to some extent, but nobody should be above the law!!If Kwame would lie underoath about this, then why should we believe ANYTHING HE SAYS at any other given time. The people of Detroit deserve better than this.

When Hillary Clinton lied to the investigation about Whitewater, the only reason she did not go to prison was because she was married to the President Of The United States. When her husband  the President lied twice to a Federal Grand Jury, the only reason he escaped charges was he was given one last chance to come clean and tell the truth which he did or he would have been removed from office. Kwame is not priviledged to have such an escape clause.  He should be removed from office,  and put on trial.  Lying, playing the race card in his last trial, damaging the reputations of employees, lying to his God, and costing the city 9 million dollars warrants his removal.

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

Kwame and Christine both need to be charged and prosecuted for perjury.  They both need to realize that they are not above the law.  Kwame Kilpatrick has been taking the City of Detroit for a ride . . . he has lied and deceived the citizens.  The two of them should also be held accountable for their actions.  I also hope that Carlita wakes up and smells the coffee . . . realizing that her husband has publicly humiliated her.  Is there possibly D-I-V-O-R-C-E in the future?  Take him for everything you can get, Carlita!

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

I think he should be punished to the fullest degree. His licensed as a major should be taken away. Who wants someone to run their city when they continue to lie. Once a player always a player. If I were his wife I would be getting a divorce and move on with my own life. She deserves better.

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

I honestly think we as a city and as a people should stay out of it. what good will it do to disscrase a good man who has helped this city so much. I hate it when people interfere withe other peoples personal lives, leave the poor man be.
