    Clickondetroit is reporting the following:

Detroit 911 Operator To Be Reinstated

    POSTED: Thursday, July 9, 2009

    UPDATED: 12:55 pm EDT July 9, 2009

DETROIT -- An arbitrator said Detroit must rehire a 911 operator convicted of willful neglect of duty for ignoring a boy's call about his unconscious mother, who later died.

Police spokesman John Roach said the city will comply.

Nichols was fired and served a year's probation for her handling of the call. Then-5-year-old Robert Turner dialed 911 on Feb. 20, 2006, saying his mother had collapsed.

Nichols accused him of playing games and didn't send help. Robert called back three hours later and another operator scolded him but sent police, who found 46-year-old Sherrill Turner dead from an apparent heart condition.

A message seeking comment was left Thursday for American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 1023.

Another unbelievable story today, this from freep.com:

Former drug unit head to resume working at sheriff’s office

The former head of a drug unit accused of possessing marijuana, drunken driving, resisting arrest and endangering children in February will resume working for the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, but he’ll lose his rank as a lieutenant. Lt. Joseph Guzdziol, 44, was sentenced on June 1 to two days in jail and nine months of probation on reduced charges as part of a plea agreement in 75th District Court in Bay City.

Since police pulled him over in Monitor Township, Guzdziol has been on leave without pay as head of the drug unit at the sheriff’s office.

Sherriff Mark Hackel said Guzdziol will return to work on Saturday as a corrections officer, an entry level position that pays about $30,000 a year, compared to his former $80,000-plus salary.

“It’s a very substantial demotion in this department, one that has never been seen before,” Hackel said today. “He no longer has rank.”

Court records show that Guzdziol was pulled over by state troopers for suspicions of drunken driving while his three children — ages 3, 6 and 8 — were with him. When troopers tried to arrest him, he repeated he was a cop before refusing to be apprehended, according to court records. During the scuffle, troopers said Guzdziol broke a mirror off a police car.

A search of his truck revealed a pipe with marijuana residue, troopers said.

His attorney said Guzdziol has a drinking problem and is receiving rehabilitation.

I am appalled at both of these articles.  I guess it doesn't matter anymore if you do something wrong and ARE convicted, a government (in these cases, city of det, macomb county) is the one to have because you will be taken care of.

Don't know if anyone has been reading the DetroitYes forums, but they have one on Mildred Gaddis.  Seems she has State TAX lein to the tune of $12,000.  Also many of the opinions over there are not in her favor.

Tax man tunes into radio host Mildred Gaddis

It’s been a rough few weeks for talk show gabber Mildred Gaddis.

Last week, the brass at WADL-TV (Channel 38) cut ties with her after a TV station reported she was charging $1,000 to interview Detroit City Council candidates. Now, public records claim Gaddis owes the state almost $12,000 in unpaid income taxes -- though she disputes the debt.

Re: Off topic - "Hate" crimes do not apply to white victims

    just amazed:

Black street crime is on the rise because big city Democrat authorities will not crack down on their constituency. People are leaving these big cities in droves, yet the Democrats will not adequately address the soaring crime rates, as it would harm their political aspirations. Ever hear of the Democrats being labeled as a party of "law and order?" You never will.

Although I find the entire article quite enlightening, the statement I copied above really is disturbing and certainly relates to Detroit.

People do not know how to address the soaring crime rates.  One group continues to perpetuate and enable and another group that attempts to instill consequences/punishment is sued.  These increased crime rates have been in the making for years.  Many of these criminals can be tagged in early elementary. By middle school it is a given the path of destruction they will follow.  The money spent to "rescue" these individuals is appalling.  Criminals have developed an even more overt sense of entitlemement in the past year.  Maybe it is their cry for the bailout money.  I know that doesn't make sense.  Too early I guess to make a comment with substance.

Exactly, tax.  Martha was likely not invited.  Since when would she put her council job ahead of her "primary job"?

As I confessed here earlier, I am hooked on a lot of this coverage (against my better judgment).  Anyway, I find it fascinating that all of these news accounts of MJ's life speak of him being a lonely, private person.  Yet all of these hanger-onners are flocking out to Los Angeles to pay tribute, like they're his BFFs.

And the one person we KNOW he was truly friends with, Elizabeth Taylor, is purposely staying away from all of this hype.  I'm not really a fan of hers (nor of Jackson's), but good for her!

I wonder if she donated some money to help LA pay for this grandstanding.  The Jackson family obviously isn't going to pay.  As of yesterday LA collected 17,000 in private donations.  Probably coming from people who can least afford it which is pathetic.  LA knew from the beginning they DID NOT have resources to cover this.  They should have said NO to the Jackson's demands.  So hopefully Martha baby has sent in her donation.  Taylor and Ross know how dysfunctional this family is and I am sure their not attending confirms they didn't want to be a part of this circus.  Compassion for Michael.  He was a tortured soul.

You're so right, Tushana.  Instead of confronting the problem head on (like clearly identifying who is committing all the crimes, and the fact that no fathers are present in these homes), our "system" just wants to keep throwing more money at the problem.  That's all they do, whether it be to create programs at any level of government, dish out more money in welfare to these fatherless families, or to just dump more into these corrupt, and failing, school systems.  As usual, oversight and any measurement of results for our investment is non existent.

The performers at the memorial service were all gazillionaires.  The entire incremental cost of this thing, the $1.4 million, is chump change to any one of these people.  So either they, or the Jacksons, should have just paid and shut up about it.  Instead, California's taxpayers are on the hook.

What phonies.  They were all up there crying their eyes out.  They can "pay" their respects to the guy, yet when it comes to paying out cash, forget it!

    Off topic - housing crisis

This article only addresses home mortgages. The media at large has yet to address the failures in the commercial building sector. Look around at all the vacant commercial properties. How long do you think the current owners can afford to pay their mortgages if they are not bringing in income?

    More trouble ahead for housing

Posted Jul 09 2009, 01:27 PM by Anthony Mirhaydari

Although Wall Street's focus has turned to other matters, the housing crisis continues to smolder and burn like an abandoned campfire ready to reignite. Heck, the banks are even restarting the mortgage repackaging business -- once again turning questionable loans into "investment grade" securities.

But just as we look the other way, the next phase of the housing crisis is about to begin according to new analysis by hedge fund owner and value-investing guru Whitney Tilson. Since home prices peaked in 2006, the Case-Shiller Home Price Index has fallen 34%. This, of course, was driven by a huge spike in defaults and delinquencies among subprime borrowers as interest rates and payments reset.

In a recent update to his housing overview from last December, Tilson says the next phase will be driven by prime and Alt-A borrowers who owe more than their house is now worth. The catalyst will be ongoing job loss, falling wages, and rising interest rates. Add to this a huge wave of Alt-A loan resets over the next five years. The result: Home prices will fall another 10%, possibly more.   Read More...

I really was sickened by these HOLY MEN ( Ya right) when I saw their show over their horror of students getting shot. Just Like Michel Jackson, his death saddened me, I never thought he did any thing bad with kids. I really didn’t. It’s the same thing though, WHERE is everybody when this stuff is happening. Where were his brothers when he was going insane. He had to be so incredibly sad as a person I can’t even imagine. They say the TRIAL just destroyed his soul and I think that’s true. He was an easy mark! Why do the preacher men have to get all dressed up for the TV cameras and spout what ever it is they spout. To me it means NOTHING. Here I am al 118 pounds 5’4” and if I could I would have stood up in front of that whole gang and screamed at them for hiding behind their collars, from behind the pulpit taking money from KK to praise his leadership I would have felt great!!!!! The only thing that means something are those who do NOT seek out the lime light to strut their stuff. Those who quietly work in the back ground helping one person at a time, then moving on.

This will all be forgotten in a few weeks. And Lord knows they would never accept any help from the suburbs because you know how much we all want to take over Detroit.

Kathy, I think these men may be a little different than the Sharpton/Jackson/Friend of Kwame-type preachers we're used to seeing in the news.  They didn't scream, "blame whitey" or ask for money; they are actually going to send men out into the schools to patrol or monitor the situations in hopes of stopping any criminal activity.

So for once, someone is actually taking action!  Sounds like a good idea; let's hope it makes a dent in the crime rate among Detroit's youth.

You're right, I jumped . I was just so sad and angry to see what happened I should not have put everyone in that category.  I just want , like all of us, to see those kids have a better safer life. Not be afraid all the time, not be in danger. I hope I didn't offend anyone here . I just can't comprehend why its tolerated along with the corruption.I wish I could help. Maybe someday 8 mile will just be another mile road ,

    Punky, this is hysterical!

I'd like to get it very nicely framed and send it to John Conyers, so that he can mount it above his fireplace wherever he lives!

Now I notice the Shrek doll that taxpayer has pointed out!  Excellent!!!

Kathy, that's OK.  You may still be right.  It's just that so far, they SEEM to be on the up and up.  Time will tell.

And if they throw out the race card, we'll know their motives for sure.  Detroit city government and schools have been controlled by blacks for YEARS now, and there is NO WAY they should be blaming "whitey" for their problems at this point.
