Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

When will kilpatrick learn to be a man. He seems to think he's still in a collage frat or something. there is now facts that prove he and beatty both comitted purgery in a court of law. So if the legal system don't go after them like they would any other person who was known to purgery themself then what kind of message are they sending. They did it now pay the piper. They should also have to repay the 9 million dollars back to the city tax base. As far as some my think that this is a private matter well how wrong can they be. Maybe he should start acting like a man in the public eye instead of a horney school boy. He put his whole family in this mess and nobody else except beatty maybe. It's time for a change step down you clown....

The mayor and Christine Beatty should both be forced to resign and face perjury charges.  Kwame has proven time and time again he is a corrupt individual who thinks he's above the law.  Perjury is a serious offense and to be the mayor he has abused his position for his own personal gain.  It is time for the citizens of Detroit to be outraged and call for his resignation or be impeached.  Christine Beatty should be fired.  The entire administration should be replaced.

I think that instead of sharing his concern about being 'profoundly embarrassed' and asking the public for his 'privacy' during this difficult time, he should be telling the public WHY he felt it was okay to purjer himself when his role is so incredibly important to the citizens.  We look to KK for leadership values and as a role model for our children, and he is an enormous disappointment in that role.  Even though I don't reside in Detroit, I live in a close lying suburb very near the Detroit border and am certainly affected by the Mayor and many of his decisions.  His decision to lie on the stand was definitely a poor and irresponsible choice.  I would have to presume that the voters that put him in charge of their city must be truly devastated by his behavior.

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

Regardless of what The Mayor does, he will get elected again and again and again until he decides to not run.  This gives him big time "street cred", and makes him look like a stud.  The majority of voters in Detroit will typically protect their own.  I equate the City of Detroit to a teenager and the suburbs as the parent's.  The more the suburbs dislike The Mayor, the more the Detroit voters will vote for him.  Either way it makes good press and it's free entertainment to the rest of us.  Unfortunately, someone has to get hurt, but they choose to run a public life.  My suggestion, use a public phone.  The "Wise Guys" always did.

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

Unfortunately, the City Leaders in Detroit have once again shown that they think that they are above the law.  I marvel at how easy it was for Mayor Kilpatrick to sit in a court of law and just lie without a flinch, and elaborate on his lie.

Everytime we see Christine Beatty, it for an traffic infraction where she questions the officer asking "do you know who I am".  All of this suggest "Don't mess with me" because I am above the law.  I am somebody in the City of Detroit's leadership.

Why should anybody in Detroit observe the law, when our leaders think they don't have to. While I don't think the Mayor should lose his job over this (since Bill Clinton did'nt lose his), I do think her should be prosecuted just like anyone else who breaks the law.  If our Justice System in Detroit does not bring action on this, why should anyone else be brought to justice.  No wonder crime runs rampant in our city.  Look at the example set by leadership.

    Very Concerned Citizen

if he is not punished 4 perjury then that means he is above the law.   Is that right or fair?

I feel that it's about time for mayor Kilpatrick to learn that he is not above the law and he has to follow them just like everyone else has to. As the old saying goes behind every rumor there's a hint of truth. I know he didn't want his wife to find out but what a lousy way to find out. unfortunately the voters of Detroit wanted him and this is the way he repays them, with lies and deceit.

As a citzen of Detroit I think that the mayor should have used better judgement if you are going to cheat on your wife ok but dont't use the cell phone that the city provides for you. And as far as being embarrassed for your wife and kids why didn't you think of that when you was messing around with another women.Lot's of people have affairs but lying on the witness stand is unforgiveable if it had been me and I got caught I would have had to do some time in jail.My real feelings goes out to his wife it must be very hard on her my prayers go out to her and her kids. Mr. Mayor get it together.

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

I agree, he's a man.  A man that chose to use tax payer monies to conceal the termination of a City employee, who busted him for having an illicit affair during tax payer funded "business trips" and more.  For using the tax payer supplied mansion for partying like a punk.  For using tax payer monies to supply his wife with a set of nice wheels.  And this is just the top of the list.

He's a blatent crook and needs to be removed from office so he stops using the tax payer monies for his personal passions.  When will the residents of Detroit wake up?

I agree, the ones to suffer will be the families.  But he and Ms. Beatty should have thought about that before they became involved.  And when you're using tax payer monies to persue your passions, you know you're fair game.  Too many people and news organizations knew he was a crook.  It was just a matter of time.

Mayor Kilpatrick's personal life is just that, personal! What happens between him and anyone else intimately is no one's buisness but his and whomever is involved.   People who are interested in the personal lifes of others have no life themselfs!

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

To the people who think the mayor should be left alone: These are the scandals he's been caught doing. The affair, giving his girlfriend preferential treament; firing two credible public servants; using his mansion inappropriately; making the police his personal servants; getting a luxury SUV for his wife; taking family trips on the city's dime; and costing the city millions of dollars in lawsuits during this time of recession.

What about the scandalous actions he has NOT been caught doing? This is probably only the tip of the icebeg.

And when does this man have time to be the mayor, which should be at least a full-time job? I see him on TV everyday at all the "fun" functions. What has he produced that is positive for Detroit?

It's a shame that Dennis Archer, who is a serious public servant, and was making positive changes for Detorit, did not get the respect he deserved for serving the city well.

Who has any respect for KK now?

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

He should have thought about that when he was texting her, I mean how dumb can you be to text someone from your cell phone on a daily basis ant not expect it to surface. I have no sympathy for him I hope they throw him under the jail along with Christine Beatty. This is what happens when you do dirt it slaps you in the face and I hope it slaps him HARD.

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

When he starts messing up to the point where my taxes may increase because he just cost the city millions of dollars evrything he does becomes my business. When you are in the limelight you have no business, but if you want to continue to let him milk you dry that's your business, you're probably one of the votes that put him back in office.
