pamelabre, I don't know how old you are so I'm going to try to be kind.  Since you think that the mayor's felonist perjury is okay.  Since you don't understad that when you vote in a public official, you pay him have your best interest at heart 24-7

Please, could you pay that TEN MILLION  DOLLARS plus legal fees that I as a tax payer and homerowner have to pay?  It really would be nice of you since you are so understanding and maybe we could get more police protection  and recreation centers for our children with that money;  come on... look under your door.

He may be just a man but he is a man who perjured himself.  That is illegal and he should be ready to face the consequences of his actions.

Ok...you totally missed the point here. The man LIED TO THE COURT. Regardless if he is " a man" he LIED UNDER OATH. Two men's lives were ruined by two people who would rather fire someone to keep their affair a secret while lying to their spouses. He then came out of court "Stunned" by the verdict, actually bringing race into the picture. Then went on the radio to profess in justice. The people of Detroit voted for him a second time- knowing what a snake he is. The people of the city have to live with it until the next re-election. Thank God I don't live in Detroit anymore.

You're absolutely right, his life is his private life. But when asked a question under oath, you have to be truthful. The mayor could have taken care of all this and protected his family by settling out of court. But he chose to challenge the accusations made against knowing he was going to have to lie. His lies have cost the city of Detroit 9 million dollars.

This city is functionally hogtied right now!  The Feds need to step in and realign the power posts within the established charter guidelines, Cochrel get ready.  This is the new beginning Detroit has been looking for.

Come on people; stop attacking the media for exposing this story and hurting his wife and children. It is not, nor should it ever be the media's responsibility to protect KK's family.  However, it is KK's responsibility!  The media did not play find the cannoli with Beatty on our dime! The media did not use city issued communication devices for personal business on our dime or commit perjury.  Get with it people!  KK is not a victim here!  It was his actions that exposed his sweet family to heartache. Shame on you KK... Shame!!!

I cannot believe what is going on in the city of Detroit today; this city has endless potential and is being run by deviants!!! I think that outside officials from surrounding cities need to come together and teach those in office in Detroit how a city is ran successfully, Kilpatrick is wasting time, precious money, and efforts on a city that should be great, there are no excuses for the terrible situation that Detroit is in, Its no wonder people want to leave Michigan, many will not drive thru Detroit in fear of their life. Thank you Kwame for making us all have to admit we live next to a disgrace, you should be in jail for you are a criminal...People of michigan write letters we need to fix this.

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

So you're probably one of those people who said it was o.k. because Bill Clinton only lied about sex.  And you probably thought the mayor of D.C. deserved a second chance when he got busted for crack.

    I don't want a criminal in office.

And I would also like to know what crimes I can commit without being punished.  Can I lie under oath (that would be a crime) and not go to jail?  What can a person lie about?  Can we lie about sex but not murder?  Who gets to draw the line?

Kwame commited a crime.  He deserves to be punished.  He did not fail to pay a parking ticket.  Perjury is a FELLONY!

Lock him up.  Give us a new mayor.  Please.

Kwame Kilpatrick is a disgrace & an embarrassment. This will get pushed aside and it will be business as usual before long.  I also think it's time for the truth to come out about the dead "exotic dancer" from the infamous non party! I keep waiting for Steve Wilson to end of dead somewhere because of his never ending pusuit for truth with this mayor & his administration.

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

I think it's time for the people of Detroit to look for a mayor with morals, both at home and work.  This man seems to be nothing but another problem for the city, a liability.

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

He's a public official you idiot. He's also a cheat and a liar.  Let's also get to the bottom of the infamous party where an "exotic dancer" wound up losing her life in a cover up. You also need to check your spelling....

I think this is consistant with Kwames regime.I just feel bad about the family members that were betrayed in the process.Out of all the scandels your team uncovered I think its time to resign and reimburse the city.I think they both need to face purgury charges. There are standards public payed officials need to live up to.Linda  in Waterford

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

He should have thought of his children when he committed perjury in the court.  But no, in his arrogance and his love of power, he thought he'd never get caught.  His girlfriend should have thought of her children, too.  He has cost the taxpayers of Detroit and he needs to step down.  It is the very least he can do to show that he has SOME respect for the people of Detroit and his office.

Re: Detroit Mayor's Text Message Sex Scandal

This has cost the citizens of Detroit a substantial amount of money to defend him in court, only for him to deny the accusations.  Money that could have been spent on the DPS system and other areas.  I think it is time for the citizens of Detroit to stand together and voice their concerns of having a Mayor that lies, cheats, and cost the city money that could have been put to better use.  I think he has cost the city enough money.  Time for his journey to end.
