Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick along with the city of Detroit, have become a complete embarrassment to the counties, to the state, to the United States and to the world.  It is time that the city of Detroit and it's people begin to demonstrate that they are capable of far more than what Mayor Kwayme Kilpatrick has so easily and so repetitiously demonstrated. Once, a long time ago, the city of Detroit had a sterling reputation. But then again, that was a long time ago. It is time now for the Mayor to listen to the council, to the people, to the politicians and leave for the sake of doing what is right. At least once.

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

I think that if Mayor Kilpatrick really cares about the city of Detroit he will resign. He will never be able to walk through this like the Navigator scandel. He needs to allow Detroit to be the city it can be and that can only happen without him. Please, from the bottom of my heart....LEAVE!

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

Several days ago a very high-spirited, well-spoken young woman spoke during the public forum at the city council meeting.   I am paraphrasing a bit but she said "Mr. Mayor, you are not a king, and we are not your subjects".  I don't think it could have been said any better.  This brings to mind the decadent kings and leaders throughout history who took the tax money paid by hard working citizens and funneled it into their plush banquet halls and lavish life styles, thereby denying the communities of what was theirs and leaving them empty-handed.  I don't think that 8 or 9 million dollars is a "drop in the bucket" - not even in the context in which it was described by the mayor's spokesperson.  Stealing is stealing - no matter what.  Kwame's charismatic ability to spin a great speech is only illusion, and beneath it is something much more troubling.  Isn't there something in the bible that says "beware of false prophets".  Detroit residents need to take control of the issue - each in their own way, using their voices, and knowing their rights.  The last time I checked, this was still a democracy.  Kwamee was supposed to serve you, not steal from you under the pretext of "executive privilege".  It's time now.  He needs to go.

Its time to go.  What happened to Ficano and Granholm?  We need to hear from our party leaders.

It's about time he resign.  His lies and deceit are not acceptable for the City of Detroit.  Get someone in there that can do something positive for the City.

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

Are you people crazy? Kwame is not going to resign. And exactly what has he done for the city? Look at all of the areas you hve to travel to to get to the city. I lived in Delray for 11 years. It's a worse hell hole now than it was then, and the outskirts of the city just get worse by the moment. Kwame is not interested in improving things for the citizens, only for himself. When will you people wake up and smell the coffee???????????????

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

I would like to know who the business leaders were that met with him this morning.

They were not identified in the article this morning...matter-of-fact, they didn't want to be mentioned was the way I understood it.

I think they need to be named.

You are judged by the company you keep!

Businesses that are still going to deal with KK need to be called out so people can choose if they want to contact that company, boycott that company, or even just do a small part by spreading the word that they still deal with this scumbag.

Companies that are still dealing with him need to pay the price!

Politicians that are still associating with him need to pay the price!

    beanie1976:
He is an  arrogant, pompass, manipulative ass.  His time serving as  Mayor of Detroit has been  nothing more than a joke.  The city of Detroit has been his own personal bank account, using City money for pleasure and for covering mistakes he has made.  Now he has the  audasity to portray himself as the victim ...the media attacking him and his family, threats being made towards him.  He created this mess for himself  AND his family.  He has made the city of Detroit a laughing stock and embaressed his  family. The people voted him in and  supported him...he let  every single person living in Detroit,  all businesses in Detroit, the State of Michigan, and his family down. He has put  The Motor  City  on the map in an  embaressing and  negitive way.  Yet he  has the  nerve to say he will not resign. He might as well  be spitting in  all of our faces.  What a power-hungry loser.

beanie1976........no one could have said it better than you did.

People like him are scarey, his arrocance puts him in a realm of his own. How he can abuse the public funds and have the attitude HE WILL NOT RESIGN should be a wake up call to all. He insists on keeping his hand in the city pocket, and no one is going to tell him he can't.

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

I think Martha Reeves is a coward who has no business in public office. Just yesterday you could tell she was too weak in character for a decision. And today she conviently called in sick on one of the most important votes of council history. Yes she was sick......she had coward fever...didn't want to go against the mayor because she needs that hip hop vote to get back in office and was to afraid to let her peers know she caved in. This is the very reason council should be elected by district...to keep these weak domestic help off the council. Look at the make up of the council? does it really represent the city or is it a popularity contest? there are far too many of the same with very little true intellect involved

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

Kudos to the City Council.  They finally realize that not only is Kwame an embarrassment to the City of Detroit but he is an embarrassment to the State of Michigan.

However as we all know Kwame will not step down and the only way anyone will get him out of the Mayor's Office is either in HANDCUFFS or a STRAAIGHT JACKET!!

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

I just want to say that the writings so far are awesome, you are all so right about this whole mess. It is time for prayer alright.........prayer for the city of Detroit, for if he isn't out soon I have to wonder if the city will survive. All the money wasted, all the people it could have helped, the food and shelter it could have provided, the hard working people that are loosing their homes that could use help, the poor children that deserve decent classrooms and the best of educational materials. All this and he can live like money is nothing to him.........obviously because the money giving him AND his wife the high life if not his own.

Re: City Council Wants Mayor Kilpatrick to Resign

I fully agree with the City Council's decision today.  It gives the citizens of Detroit a sense of relief to know that the our entire city government is not in Kwame's pocket.  Monica Conyers will not get my vote again.

Excellent post! That little voice that told him that "God annoited him to be  Mayor"  was the voice of his own selfish ego, The man is a delusional sociopath...Mr. Mayor its time that you get off the Gravy Train and find a new job!
