Was the Pentastar plane the same one that used to carry Mark Fields home every weekend to Del Ray, Florida? If so, Kwame has more in common with business leaders than we think.

Re: Steve Wilson Investigation into the Mayor's Expenses and Private Jets
I am a native Detroiter, a retired Detroit Police Sergeant (who by the way worked with both Michael Martin and Loronzo Jones at the 2nd Precinct during the whole mess) who now resides in Pennsylvania.
The citizens of Detroit should be very grateful for Steve Wilson. For those who think that he is waging a vendetta against the Mayor, think again. Were it not for the tenacity of Mr. Wilson and other members of the media, so much would still be done in the dark.
Now, my question from PA, what is the holdup on the release of the text messages? Surely, there will be even more that will cause Detroiters to say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!

Re: Steve Wilson Investigation into the Mayor's Expenses and Private Jets
I absolutely love Steve's reporting of the facts, check that, the questions he has trying to get to the facts.
Unfortunately, if Steve wants the facts, asking the mayor is not going to get him anywhere near the truth.
Has anyone looked into any of the "charitable organizations" run by the "Friends and Family Plan"? Charity begins at home, and I'm sure the mayor believes this too......
And yes, with all of the scandals, I love the way Kwame aligns himself with Coleman A. Young.
Keep Digging!!!!

Re: Steve Wilson Investigation into the Mayor's Expenses and Private Jets
sethmyers:
Tell us what you think about Steve Wilson's investigation into Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's expenses and private jets.
Reply to this post and we may share your views on Channel 7.
All I have to say is three words PAY TO PLAY!
Pay-to-play defined
In politics, Pay to Play is a practice in which public officials award lucrative no-bid government contracts and grant other favors to individuals, businesses, and organizations in exchange for large political contributions. Incumbent candidates and their political organizations are typically the greatest beneficiaries of pay-to-play. Many seeking to ban or restrict the practice define pay-to-play as legalized corruption.
The practice also extends, especially in the wake of the McCain-Feingold Bill, to Party Organizations, such as County and State Democratic or Republican Committees. This manner of pay-to-play utilizes "soft-money," or money which is donated to an intermediary with a higher contribution limit, which in turn donates money to individual candidates or campaign committees.
In conclusion, now we may know why Kwame Kilpatrick can afford lavish vacations, private jets, shopping sprees, vacation home, private school for three children, expensive suits, cash to Christine Beatty, wining abd dining other women, etc.
As in the first paragragh, PAY TO PLAY is a form of legalized corruption!! Kwame Kilpatrick can ill afford to leave office now, after he's had his palms greased? He has too many favors to repay.
If Kilpatrick can live the lifestyle of a millionaire, then why can't he repay the $200,000 owed on the city credit cards? The money he allegedly spent on the Florida home and private planes would have been enought to repay the City of Detroit.
Kwame Kilpatrick doesn't give a DAMN about the City of Detroit!!!!!! Why are we just bending over and letting him violate us?

Re: Steve Wilson Investigation into the Mayor's Expenses and Private Jets
It was very informative and civilized on Steve's part!
It's more than obvious who might have paid for their "last hurah"
Does he or does he not have to disclose who financed the trip?
The Fords ovbiously need the money for their Aviation Company!
Not related, but did Steve ever discover who the woman was in South Carolina?

Re: Steve Wilson Investigation into the Mayor's Expenses and Private Jets
I have to say wait a moment on saying Kawme aligns himself with Coleman. At least Coleman would leave something for the people. Kwame will just take and take. I think Kwame is the wost mayor in the history of the USA. I feel bad for My people ( Yes, I am Black) that we have to defend this idiot.
First, he buys this Navagator and gets into mess. You would think he would learn from that. Then, he gets bustesd for lying on the stand. He should go to jail for that. And now, taking money from private companies. You know that he is just scum. I live in detroit all my life. I have talked to people about this and noone can give me a good reason we should stay behind him. All they say is " Look what he did for our city." Tell me what has he done? The Hood is still the hood. Del ray is still Del Ray. all he has done is bring in some Sporting events. Our schools are closing. Our garbage is running over in abandon houses. So, when someone tells me they support this kind of leadership, I just know they are doing it because they are racist. They beleve that a "Black" man is being hold down by "The Man". Until someone can prove to me that this is not true, I will keep thinking this.
Good job Steve, Get this clown outta town for good.

Re: Steve Wilson Investigation into the Mayor's Expenses and Private Jets
Three former white mayors (Gribbs, Cavanaugh, and Miriani) were also liars, cheaters and thieves. Yes they ALL remained in office. Don't even make this a black/white issue okay. Whites got pissed when Coleman got rid of STRESS. This was an organization that was encouraged to beat up on blacks. Cavanaugh made no attempt to stop them. When Detroit residents decried the actions by STRESS, they were beat up more. When Coleman got into office, he put a stop to it. The police got pissed because he took that away from them. Miriani (who was mayor because the former mayor died) was mafia. So again, don't make this a black/white issue. Instead of drawing your own conclusions, why not wait until EVERYTHING is divulged by the Prosecutor's office before you jump to conclusions. Other more important things are occurring in the City. The distraction is not the Mayor, its the non-stop coverage. I personally (as are many other city residents) am sick of hearing about it. Everyone is ragging on how the mayor did this, and he said that. Give it a rest. Just let the chips fall where they may. Bottom line, find something else to talk about. The media (including Steve) is putting Detroit on blast. The media is why Detroit (as some would say) the laughing stock. STOP CRAMMING THIS B.S. DOWN OUR THROATS EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!
BTW if the media coverage of the mayor was straight down the middle and not to the left or to the right, then the pill would be a lot easier to swallow. It just appears to supporters of the mayor that he's never gotten any positive publicity. Until his speech, I didn't know the Book Cadillac was scheduled to open in November. He also mentioned other things happening in the Spring. Why no coverage on those things? Straight down the middle. Is that too much to ask?

Re: Steve Wilson Investigation into the Mayor's Expenses and Private Jets
Proposed:
If "legitimate, going concern" type businesses within the Detroit City limits were able to relocate out of the district to the 3, county suburbs, Kwame could rule all by himself, a district of what's left. Nothing.
For example, non-district residents (those currently commuting to Detroit for entertainment and employment) could continue to patronize these businesses west and north of the City. Customer retail and business taxes now diverted away from your Majesty's charter; hence more funding would be available and rapid development could occur in Wayne, Macomb, Oakland. Business really do like and thrive on increased revenue. And subsequent, fairly-assessed taxes will be put to good use in building and retoring non-City infrastructure in the tri-county district.
Recalling of a cancerous, tax eating, corrupted monster isn't all bad. The benefits are clear. Further yet,.....
Tri-Counties and Brooks Paterson could now start their own water districts too and let the Detroit Water Dept. infrastructure crumble to a pile of concrete pipe and broken pumps- no more suburb revenue to fix water main leaks, no more price hikes to the burbs to cover City screwups and scandals, no more lawsuits with the city of Warren. Detroit could actually become a scenic part of the Detroit River and Belle Isle, with all it's leaks.
There really are a lot of good reasons why business should boycott and leave Emerald City. Kwame is the first reason why they should leave. Kwame Kilpatrick's leadership has led the district, the suburbs, the state into a national cesspool of debate. Mind you, he did do some good things. Under a veil of corruption. But, he did things that put him above you all. He broke the law. And he used your hard earned money to cover it up, even while he continues to live the high life of a King.
Some of his executive City and corporate constituents fall right in behind him. Unless of course, you're a silent supporter providing political perks to sway future development decisions. And certainly as an executive, you wouldn't want to divulge your corporate or small business association around a national cesspool of debate. You're scared for the lifeblood of your business revenues, and you are in denial as a corporate leader to have placed your confidence under a leader of a national cesspool of debate.
Birds of a feather.

Re: Steve Wilson Investigation into the Mayor's Expenses and Private Jets
What about the way the mayor has hurt other people. You Detroiters are hurting yourselves by defending this man. I left Detroit years ago because i knew Detroiters would continue putting no good mayors in office who dont do anything but hurt the citys image and still money from the residents. I now live in Califonia and when you even mention Detroit people fall out laughing saying I will never step foot in that city look at there MAYOR. Detroit wake up and smell the coffe. If you want better VOTE better. If you want to continue on the way that you are vote for KWAME.

These are just more examples of the unethical behavior of a man who truly believes he is above the law and deserving of special treatment.

Preciousone: I really believe everyone sincerely wants the city to be a better place and move forward. This is a difficult scenario.

Re: Steve Wilson Investigation into the Mayor's Expenses and Private Jets
Hey AlFalaq these sheep can't see that. They all are totally overlooking the fact that:
1. Dubya's brother aided and abetted his STEALING his first (S)election;
2. Dubya LIED about WMDs.
3. Dubya has gotten who-knows-how-many innocent lives snubbed out because of his (not so) hidden agenda. Remember he said: "Hussein tried to kill my daddy". There are people supporting the war based on lies he told. But, as he always says, he's "staying the course".
4. Dubya is screwing all the military families who have lost loved ones because of this Iraq B.S. by not providing them with any kind of benefits as a result of their loss. Why? Because "technically" we're not at war. (That's the loophole he's jumping through) And we all know no benefits get paid to those families because WE'RE NOT AT WAR!!! (WTF!!!)
5. Dubya STOLE the (S)election in Ohio. I think its pretty hard to believe that Ohio would (s)elect him after what that state went through.
6. No one has ever tried to recall/impeach him. He's been getting away with his B.S. for years.
7. He still won't admit to being wrong and is still milking us for more money.
But in no way is that more important than Mayor Kilpatrick lying under oath, costing the taxpayers $9 million, refusal to step down/resign.

Re: Steve Wilson Investigation into the Mayor's Expenses and Private Jets
ashonpar:Steve Wilson is funny just another way to drag the Mayor name in the mud.Now the Mayor cant even have private time.WOW BIG story Steve
The mayor put his name there. And he is putting your name there also. MUD
The mayor has all the private time he wants, and that is why he has been avoiding the media. His private time also includes prayor vigal with the Leader of the New Black Panther Party, which I am sure you are a paying member of.

If you can see this why are so many others screaming leave the mayor alone. I am glad to hear there are some sensible people still out there. Black, White Green blue, whatever anyone is, if they have done wrong they need to be brought out on it and pay the price.
Thanks for the good post, hope you survive the D
