Re: Mayor's Scandal: Prosecutor's Decision and Barricades
Newguy:
They can't keep the people of the City of Detroit protected - it take 4-5 hours to get a cop or you have to call a Detroit Common Council person to get the police, but the thief Kilpatrick can get all the protection he needs! If he wants a barricade to protect him from what - just put it up, hey the City has a lot of money to use protecting him!!

beeper: just amazed: Newguy:
aaron421:Well, everyone's wondering why doesn't the Mayor just resign? I'll tell you why, he's waiting to see if he's charged with perjury first. This job is his ace in the hole. If he were to resign first then be charged, he has nothing to play with. At least this way, if he IS charged, he can say, Ok, I'll resign if no charges are brought against me.
Looking at some of her past case history Kym Worthy doesn't strike me as the type to do much plea bargaining. Besides there is no gain to KING KK resigning. If he is convicted he is out of there anyway.
Conviction is the key here, charges may be brought, then the real circus will begin, more motions, more supeoneas, more delays, more lies, more money, more finger pointing, etc etc.
Govenor Grandholm will NEVER do it that's her fellow Democrat! It is up to the Common Council, if possible or the people of Detroit in a recall.
You're right, Just Amazed . . . . I'm just hoping that Granholm will step up right behind Kym, and remove anyone from office that has been charged with anything.

cbfateam:What do you think of Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy's decision?
I think it's great as of March 21, Saturday afternoon. Kwame is being charged with a felony.
You should now ask us citizens if we have any personal preferences as to what penitentiary to send him to, before the trial begins.
Utah state sound good with all the skinheads

Re: Mayor's Scandal: Prosecutor's Decision
The spin is starting, quote Deputy Mayor Adams:
"If the prosecutor is going to make a legal decision, we would think that she would not come back with any charges. What our legal experts have told us is that based on what they've seen and what they've analyzed, there simply is not a basis to bring a legal charge against the mayor.
"Obviously, if she's going to make a political decision, well that's a whole different ballgame. We recognize that the prosecutor is under tremendous political pressure and we believe that if she were to carefully examine the facts of the situation, that the mayor will not be charged and ultimately the mayor perhaps will be vindicated." http://www.wxyz.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=fbcfb926-0c3c-45e4-9963-4aef0f5fef48

Re: Mayor's Scandal: Prosecutor's Decision
The Deputy Mayor is a wimp-ass set of chicken lips. They move when the King tells them to move. He will soon be out of a job and can start looking for a job running a Hi-Lo.
The best solution to all of this will come tomorrow morning, as a new beginning for the City.
If Christine was smart, she'd testify to save her own self, and ensure her testimony reflects on what mayoral activities were illegal without having to look like she struck a deal with Worthy. Her credibility then would be far greater than if she made the deal to go against him.

So, the spin is, there isn't enough evidence but for politcal reasons she will charge him. So they are going to throw the political card in for us, even though we have had our thoughts as to this, I felt worthy did have alot of documents to go through, people to interview, supeoneas to issue, papers to prepare. Not to mention the prosecuters office could not just drop everything they were doing.
"We believe if she were carefully exam the facts ..........................., Is he deaf, dumb and blind, most of the facts we have seen and heard are more than enough evidence. I know proving what ever she charges him (them) with will be much harder.

Christine was into this just as much as he was, just because she resigned and has been incognito doesn't excuse her behavior. She had the affair, she lied about firing the officers, she lied under oath, she also signed the secret deal, she lived the high life on the taxpayers dime, she knew all along what was being done was illegal, she helped ferguson, etc etc, I am sorry she was just as much a part of the illegal doings as KK was.
Now, if she were to spill the beans, I may agree to give a lesser sentence. If she doesn't spill the beans, then we know she is still lieing and will do it under oath, because she did it before.

keo10:...I understand Kim Worthy has won 40 perjury cases - I also heard that if Christine Beatty spills the beans on Kwame, she will not be charged. I think she will prosecute him and it won't drag on too long before he is tried in a court of law.
Excerpt from WXYZ article
Worthy says that she and her staff have pored over more than 40,000 pages of documents since late January when the Detroit Free Press published excerpts of the sexually explicit text messages left on Beatty's city-issued pager in 2002 and 2003.
The messages contradict statements Kilpatrick and Beatty gave under oath during last summer's whistle-blowers' trial when each denied a romantic relationship.
Worthy says her investigation has been "all encompassing" in terms of possible charges and individuals looked at for possible wrongdoing.
"Certainly, we looked at the coverage and the transcripts (of the trial), among many other things," Worthy said, adding that copies of the text messages also have been reviewed. She refused to comment on their contents. http://www.wxyz.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=69085ea3-8e5a-4a6c-a003-1a4ce491e459

Personally I really hate to see Detroit suffer more but due to Kwane’s nobody can touch me attitude I am now currently on board for the boycott I have read about. It is aimed at all businesses even outside of Detroit to refrain from doing business with Detroit and for people of Detroit and any surrounding areas to boycott all sport turn outs. Including the beginning of the Tiger’s season.
So maybe even if the prosecutor doesn’t do what the majority of the people want, maybe the effects of the boycott over the next few months will impact the mayor and the influences him or the pressure from the business interests to resign and to move on.

True, I absolutely agree. She knew what she was doing.
Here's a face of another crook coming to light, who I hope gets it too. He's been privy to all that surrounds the mayor and perhaps even engaged in some illegal dealings himself.
1. Mr. Deputy Wimp-Ass himself,
Those in power who support the Mayor should be strongly suspected and perhaps considered as part of a consipracy to conceal evidence.
2. Chief Fulla Bulla
3. Sharon McFail
4. Matt Allen
5. Carlita Kilpatrick
6. Sam McCargo
7. Law Dept. (all)
8. Beatty
9. EPU members
10. Ferguson
Looks like a full house to me.....

Re: Mayor's Scandal: Prosecutor's Decision
He is just stupid and full enough of himself to try to stay in office despite charges being brought against him. Plus we already know he tainted any jury pool, and I do mean anywhere in the state, with his last 3 minutes of his "state of the city" address. I just hope that if he is charged tomorrow, he does get convicted and will see some time instead of being found "not guilty" because of someone being stupid enough to believe his "conspiracy" theory. Then we will have to put up with yet another "run" for the mayoral office in 2009! Believe me, if he does get off, he will run again.
I can't wait until tomorrow to see what happens.

And quite honestly it did not have to be that way, had he gone away several month ago, yes it would have been bad, a blackeye for the city, and yes we would have still heard about somethings. But not to the extent that it is.
Things would have started to quiet down. People would have been anticipating who the new mayor would be, they would have been trying to get on with the city matters. But he has stopped everything. And people are not going to sit by and continue to let him. The effect of what has happened will be felt for years.
