Printed from the Detroit News Briefs Kilpatrick backer close to $4.5 million deal with city A member of Mayor Kilpatrick's legal fundraising team is a step closer to landing a $4.5 million contract lease comupter software to the city, after a City council Committee approved the deal Friday. Banker Donal Dvais wants to lease comupter software to the city over the next five years through a compnay he runs, Minority Alliance Capital. Davis is also a member of the Detroit Justice Fund which is raising money to pay for Kilpatrick's criminal defense of perjury and other felonies.

Now what would be interesting and the icing on the cake is to dissect each one of those positions. Describe EXACTLY what the job involves, in detail, and list say, a daily schedule of accomplishments /duties. Then, again in detail illustrate what these people have succeeded in doing that improved the City., like a 90 day performance review. Or are these just positions where they come into work once a week for 30mins. To sign their time sheet then have an executive driver take them home?
The one thing I am not getting here is did Kwame intentionally skip the NORMAL hiring procedure for family and friends, you know the one, Qualifications, DRUG SCREENS, background checks, (that’s a good one, I would love to see a criminal History check on everyone) or do these positions not require this standard practice. If that’s the case, that the Mayor can higher anyone he wants at will here is another thing that need to be changed.
Isn’t nepotisms illegal? Didn’t Young get accused of this also ?
The friends and family on the payroll, once they were in, if they wanted to go to college or other training , I bet the city paid. What a crook. Kwame needs to be thrown out. I bet if *** Devoss were governor, he would be gone. Not saying he was the best candidate, but I think he had some balls.
What a day for OTIS to be down.........quite a coincedence, huh?

Thanks miamia. You mention Mildred Gaddis. She is really doing a great job in making the public aware of KK and his mess. I hope she is enjoying today.
Now, on Friday's show the ever-loving ____ ___ Ms. Frankie Darcell wished the clerk Janice Winfrey a Happy Mother's Day. I found this odd. I don't listen to FD any more and have not since she replaced MG when they were on WJLB. Now it makes complete sense to me why Freeman lost the race along with Ms. Currie.
Please fill in the blanks by thinking not posting. Don't need more legal headaches.
Posting is invisible-nothing personal RayStar

anyone from Michigan can sign the petition to recall Kwame......
http://www.detroitstalking.com/phpPETITION/index.php
I went to this web sight and it was not there any more. Is it true though about anyone being able to sign or is someone taking me for a ride here? I kind of doubt it. I think anyone who pays taxes that go to Detroit should have some say. I also think the Water board should be represented by every county it gets revenue from.
Kathy I tried the website a few minutes ago and it was there. I will post a link for you to click on. Hopefully this will take you to the site.

Thanks it worked , Scared me though when it first opened up and I saw Kwames MUG staring at me like he knew what I was thinking.. Kathy: I'd be careful about putting your name on any website. Especially since this one asks for both first & last name AND your email address. There is also a link that is suppose to show all names submitted, which would allow for anyone to get your name & email address. (Very scary! Too much identity theft going on!) I did click on it, but it was taking too long to open & I was afraid that it could have had a virus of some sort attached to it, so I closed it down. Please understand that ANY email petition is worthless. It doesn't hold any weight as there's no way to prove that it was that particular individual who submitted their name. Also, many people have more than one email address and could "sign" it more than once. For a petition to be valid, you must have signatures! This particular website would be more of a 'poll', rather than a 'petition'. I'd be very careful about giving that info on a public website that can be viewed by anyone in the world!
When I did a Google search on Carlita my anti-virus kicked in and it has happened with searches on the thug too.
You are right about this web sight wanting too much information. I did sign it at one point (some time ago) the recall without putting any personal info on it other than my e-mail. I had forgotten I did, then when I went back thinking It was a new sight they asked for all my info this time, this was a few days ago and I felt uncomfortable because there was not a security lock and seemed an unusual request as you described. I did not give any personal info but they have my e-mail. I did e-mail the web master and told them that I was not interested and that I did not feel comfortable with what they wanted, name and I think City or county, Since then I have gotten several e-mails explaining the reason for the policy and get sent to another sight to sign up via a link, included in the mail. Of course I don’t go and regret even sending my e-mail because I really feel like they want my name. I feel pretty safe though through the privacy of e-mail identification protection. But ya know what, even if it is some people trying to find out who anti-Kwame people are I don’t care, I stand behind every word I type and every belief I hold, I don’t say it unless I mean it. I am just sorry I sent the link to our group and hope others didn’t get suckered in like I most likely did. K

Don't worry Kathy about bringing the link here. No harm intended, no harm done.
Just to let you know what I do when I go to a new web site. I have an "extra" email address that I use when I go to web sites I'm not familiar with. It is an address that is old (matter of fact it is from probably 10yrs ago when my first husband was still alive) so that way I don't get a lot of spam to my "good" address. I also use my "extra" address on this site because you never know what kooks are out there.
It's easy to set one up through google, yahoo or any of the search engines. It's a little bit of protection.

Re: Mayor's Scandal: Prosecutor's Decision
BRIAN DICKERSON
Some judges just don't know when it's time to go
BY BRIAN DICKERSON • FREE PRESS COLUMNIST • May 11, 2008
It's just common sense: A judge ought not to preside over a case in which reasonable people might question his or her impartiality It's also the law: In Michigan, as in other states, a judge is required -- or at least strongly encouraged -- to step aside whenever circumstances suggest he or she may have a rooting interest in the controversy at hand.
Yet too many judges are reluctant to acknowledge obvious conflicts of interest, even when one or both sides in a case call problematic relationships to their attention.
And the state Supreme Court, which establishes the criteria for disqualification, has been more concerned with preserving judges' prerogatives than with protecting the court's reputation for impartiality.
Ignoring ethical hazards
Two current cases highlight the indifference to appearances that prevails in too many Michigan courtrooms.
In Warren, city prosecutor David Richards moved last week to disqualify all four Warren District Court judges from hearing a drunken-driving complaint against the court's longtime administrator, James Conrad.
And in Detroit, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has been stymied -- at least for now -- in her efforts to disqualify all 20 judges in the 36th District Court from presiding over the preliminary hearing against Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff, even though one of those judges is expected to be called as a witness in the case.
From the moment he was pulled over last Jan. 21, court administrator Conrad's third alcohol-related arrest posed obvious ethical hazards for Macomb County's criminal justice community.
Warren prosecutor Richards quickly disqualified himself and his colleagues, nearly all of whom had worked closely with Conrad, and retained an Oakland County law firm to prosecute the drunken-driving case against him.
Judge Walter Jakubowski would have been wise to follow Richards' example. He previously had gone to bat for Conrad in a disciplinary case -- arising from a previous intoxicated driving arrest -- before the Judicial Tenure Commission, which suspended Conrad without pay for half a year.
Instead, Jakubowski inexplicably insisted on presiding over Conrad's criminal case and ultimately refused to issue a warrant against him.
Jakubowski hasn't responded to the Free Press' calls, and I haven't read his rationale for quashing the charges. But it's not unreasonable to suspect that Conrad received more consideration than Warren's run-of-the mill defendant.
Perception matters
Chief 36th District Court Judge Marylin Atkins' ruling denying prosecutor Worthy's request for a blanket disqualification of the court's judges is equally shortsighted.
Worthy's assertion that virtually all the court's judges have multiple conflicts of interest in the Kilpatrick case is a compelling one. The likelihood that many 36th District judges would do their earnest best not to be influenced by those conflicts doesn't refute Worthy's argument that a judge unburdened by even the appearance of partiality would be a better choice.
Circuit court judges in Macomb and Wayne counties will decide soon whether to countermand the district judges' refusals to step aside.
They should keep in mind that promoting public confidence in the judiciary matters more than protecting their colleagues' personal prerogatives.

The Party... A Story That Won't Die Five years later and many people still believe there was a party at the Manoogian Mansion and the Kilpatrick administration has done nothing but fuel that belief with their behavior, from firings, millions in tax payers money spent, arrogance and perjury charges. This year we've heard from an officer who said he was at the party, and according to sources has pictures, and a former civilian working in the police department who said she saw the police report on the beating former dancer Tamara Greene allegedly took from Carlita Kilpatrick. So it should come as no surprise that a local news team has been tracking a former Detroit Police Officer who was reportedly dancing at this alleged party. The officer, who we won't name, apparently left the police department soon after this story broke and went to work for a downriver police department. From what we are told she's been approached by this dogged news reporter who can't get her to talk. If this is true this officer being linked to the party will catch many by surprise because although its been rumored from the beginning that there was an officer involved this is not the officer most thought. It could turn out that this is just another failed lead or rumor but its one we will be able to add to the list of stories from the party that never happen. |
City Heat This will be a very interesting summer in the city of Detroit with all the angst over the Kilpatrick scandal. Many of his supporters, as the Detroit Free Press pointed out (5/11/08), have made money that they had never seen in their lives and they will probably do whatever's necessary to hold on to this gravy train. Already there have been threats made on the life of Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy and her daughter. She now has security around her 24/7 and Federal agents have been to her home we're told. Kilpatrick paid supporters have begun distributing literature and making phone calls disparaging the prosecutor. Assistant Chief Dunlap has attempted to intimidate voices in the community such as radio talk show host Mildred Gaddis, of 1200AM WCHB, who has spoken out passionately against Mayor Kilpatrick. The police department is compromised and can't be trusted to fairly and uniformly carry out its duties. The executives of the department have lost sight of the fact that they serve the people not the mayor. Because of this the State Police, we're told, are on the ready for whatever may go down in the city. The case against Mayor Kilpatrick will go forward this summer if there aren't more attempts to delay by Kilpatrick's attorney's. Essentially what's going to happen is Mayor Kilpatrick will have to be forced out of office at some point because he won't leave on his own. At the point that City Council or the Governor calls for him to leave the Detroit Police Department will be put in the position by executives of the department of having to protect him from forciable removal. Add to this his supporters, who can be radical and disorderly, will be given free rein to roam and terrorize. Forty-One years ago Detroit saw riots in the streets that destroyed businesses, homes and communities. The best way to keep this from occurring again is for Mayor Kilpatrick, who claims he loves the city, to step down and not allow his stubbornness and arrogance to destroy a city.
Mayor vesting? Some believe that the reason Mayor Kilpatrick has not made a decision to step down and his lawyers are stalling is so Mayor Kilpatrick can wait until after November when he will have 10 years as a public servant and will be vested into a pension. Whether that is true or not is unknown but like former City Councilmember Alonzo Bates any pension money owed Kilpatrick should go to the city to pay back the $8.4 million owed tax payers. | | I love to party the mobster is having a good time.

Re: Presidential Endorsement
Laura56: Boomer:Has anyone heard or read which presidential candidate KK and his mother are supporting? The answer will probably explain (at least in my mind) why the governor appears reluctant to intervene in the removal of KK from office.
HI Boomer - Last I heard both were supporting Clinton. In case you didn't know, both KILLpatricks and Grandholm are super delegates also. There is of course the problem with the Democratic delegates. We'll have to see what is decided this week since a proposal was given to the DNC (Democratic National Committee) Friday.
Yes, Laura, I am aware they are super delegates, which was the reason for my question. Now that I know they are all supporting Clinton, it sheds some light on JG's possible reluctance to take a stand against Kilpatrick. If she did take a negative stance against him, he and his mother could switch their votes to Obama. Makes sense to me.

After reading the list of fnf, the questions beg to be asked: How many assistants and executive assistants does KK have? What is his staff budget? Is there any limit to the assistants that he can appoint? What is the job description of each? Whom do they answer to?
Anyone know?
