Re: Mayor's Scandal: Prosecutor's Decision
Gene,
If you Google North American Union or go to You Tube and put in North American Union, you will find LOTS about what you were talking about (no middle class). It is really interesting. All about Ameros (combination dollar and euro), but I don't know how to post any of it. Evidently this talk is not new.

The Detroit City Council voted 6-2 this morning in favor of putting a proposed censure of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick for his handling of a whistle-blower lawsuit on Tuesday's formal council agenda.
The council at 10:40 a.m. recessed work on the text-message scandal until 3 p.m. to give time for its independent attorney, Bill Goodman, to draft resolutions removing the mayor from office. At that time, the council will weigh direct removal of the mayor or asking Gov. Jennifer Granholm to oust Kilpatrick.
The council voted 6-2 to censure the mayor.
Voting yes were Council President Ken Cockrel Jr. and Councilmembers Sheila Cockrel, Brenda Jones, Kwame Kenyatta, JoAnn Watson and Alberta Tinsley-Talabi. Voting no were Council President Pro Tem Monica Conyers and Councilwoman Martha Reeves. Councilwoman Barbara-Rose Collins was absent.
“It has no immediate or pragmatic political implications. However, I think it is a statement of judgment,” said Goodman on the rationale for censuring the mayor.
Discussions this morning showed division among the council about the best course of action to take, with some members favoring asking Granholm to act and others preferring the council keep control and begin proceedings allowed under the city charter to remove the mayor from office. HOPE THEY THROW IT OUT OF OFFICE TOMORROW.......

Monica Conyers failed the bar exam several times.
So...even if they vote to remove the Mayor he doesn't have to go, right? this is just as non-binding as the last time they voted that he should resign. Granholm isn't going to do anything. i agree with the person who said the recall petition has the best chance of actually impacting the Mayor.
THIS IS RUNNING THE CITY OF DEBTROIT.

miamia:
THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO RIGHT NOW ABOUT KWAME we can talk about it realease our frustrations other than that nothing.
Were here to share info. and when the time comes for the trial maybe we can rejoyce to see that thug go to jail. Once the trial starts it probably will take at least 90 days to complete
Just remember to keep people abreast to when the elections are so no mistakes are made and appoint the same people again. Let these politicians know if they don't do right election time they are gone.
I sounds like the National Guard will have to be called in to remove this crook Kwame from office if the cops won't do it.

Re: {{{{{{{{{{ WHERE'S IT, AND IT'S BIG RED DRESS }}}}}}}}}}}
The Party... A Story That Won't Die Five years later and many people still believe there was a party at the Manoogian Mansion and the Kilpatrick administration has done nothing but fuel that belief with their behavior, from firings, millions in tax payers money spent, arrogance and perjury charges. This year we've heard from an officer who said he was at the party, and according to sources has pictures, and a former civilian working in the police department who said she saw the police report on the beating former dancer Tamara Greene allegedly took from Carlita Kilpatrick. So it should come as no surprise that a local news team has been tracking a former Detroit Police Officer who was reportedly dancing at this alleged party. The officer, who we won't name, apparently left the police department soon after this story broke and went to work for a downriver police department. From what we are told she's been approached by this dogged news reporter who can't get her to talk. If this is true this officer being linked to the party will catch many by surprise because although its been rumored from the beginning that there was an officer involved this is not the officer most thought. It could turn out that this is just another failed lead or rumor but its one we will be able to add to the list of stories from the party that never happen.
THIS STORY WILL ONLY DIE NOW WHEN {{{ IT }}}GOES TO PRISON

erikahicks:why is it that he has to be a thug?????is it because he is young and black???????or is it that he wears what he wants to wear/???????let's think about what he has done and stay away from the things that we dont like yes he has done some bad things but look at what he has done.....get a life and get over it....
I wish people like you would grow a brain and get a clue. He is a thug for numerous reasons. He lies, cheats , and steals. Not to mention that poor lady Tamara Green that ended up dead . Kwame wants to stay in office so he can personally see the evidence destroyed that should put him behind bars. How many of your family can you get civil service jobs for with benefits. It is people like you that elected this crud into office. He is dragging Detroit down, we are the laughing stock of this country. Are you able to afford luxury trips with massages, expensive champagne and dinners, all on the taxpayers backs? The fat cats that do this crap are getting caught in this day and age and are going to jail.

The resolution that the Council's attorney, Goodman, is drafting now is a NON-BINDING resolution. I think that in order to send a petition to the governor, they are going to do multiple steps with the final step, or resolution, sent to Grandholm.
I believe the reason they are doing it this way to close up any loop-holes that Kwame's mouthpieces could possibly find.
Remember it might not be a horrible thing for Kwame to remain in office until the end of the trial. If he is ousted or resigns now he will be able to run again for Mayor. If he is found guilty (and the likelihood is great) then he can never hold office again.
Be careful of what you wish for - Conyers as President of City Council will cause more damage than Kwame remaining in office for another 5 months.

Now Gene - You don't want to be arrested for stalking do you? Stay away from the Mansion, it's heavily guarded, day and night.
Heck, on moving day I'll be happy to back my car up so they can fill it up with their junk and take it far, far away! Won't cost the City another red cent - happy to donate my time!

Re: {{{{{{{{{{ WHERE'S IT, AND IT'S BIG RED DRESS }}}}}}}}}}}
City Heat This will be a very interesting summer in the city of Detroit with all the angst over the Kilpatrick scandal. Many of his supporters, as the Detroit Free Press pointed out (5/11/08), have made money that they had never seen in their lives and they will probably do whatever's necessary to hold on to this gravy train. Already there have been threats made on the life of Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy and her daughter. She now has security around her 24/7 and Federal agents have been to her home we're told. Kilpatrick paid supporters have begun distributing literature and making phone calls disparaging the prosecutor. Assistant Chief Dunlap has attempted to intimidate voices in the community such as radio talk show host Mildred Gaddis, of 1200AM WCHB, who has spoken out passionately against Mayor Kilpatrick. The police department is compromised and can't be trusted to fairly and uniformly carry out its duties. The executives of the department have lost sight of the fact that they serve the people not the mayor. Because of this the State Police, we're told, are on the ready for whatever may go down in the city. The case against Mayor Kilpatrick will go forward this summer if there aren't more attempts to delay by Kilpatrick's attorney's. Essentially what's going to happen is Mayor Kilpatrick will have to be forced out of office at some point because he won't leave on his own. At the point that City Council or the Governor calls for him to leave the Detroit Police Department will be put in the position by executives of the department of having to protect him from forciable removal. Add to this his supporters, who can be radical and disorderly, will be given free rein to roam and terrorize. We also have the potential of a recall being placed on the ballot adding to the turbulence. Forty-One years ago Detroit saw riots in the streets that destroyed businesses, homes and communities. The best way to keep this from occurring again is for Mayor Kilpatrick, who claims he loves the city, to step down and not allow his stubbornness and arrogance to destroy a city
WELL LETS HOPE THEM GRAVY TRIANS ARE OVER SHORTLY.

Re: Who got the Biggest Raises?
Cheryl48: Laura56: miamia:From Detnews.com:..............and worth a pretty good laugh this morning, Way to go Foghorn,
Kilpatrick lawyer who chided Worthy owes taxes, too Parkman owes Ala. $23,600 after paying off $1M in liens in 2006. Robert Snell / The Detroit News DETROIT -- A member of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's legal team who scolded Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy for not paying taxes owes $23,602 to the state of Alabama for unpaid income taxes, public records show.
That's only the most recent tax delinquency, though. Since 2005, lawyer James W. Parkman III has paid off more than $1 million in delinquent state and federal taxes, a figure that dwarfs the $31,000 in liens filed against Worthy.
Amazing that Parkman thought that the Detroit press wouldn't find out about his tax problems!!
After his pontification yesterday with Chuck about why he took the case (told he couldn't win - loves a challenge and really LIKES Kwame) today we know the real reason. He needs the money.
After paying off the $1 million in delinquent taxes he probably thought he was justified in condemning Worthy.
Wonder how that smooth southern drawl will spin this? Maybe another football analogy? Maybe this will shut him up for awhile, until they think we'll forget about it. But then that will bring another mouthpiece out front. Yuck, they're all slippery.
*******************************
Like Bill Proctor said this morning.........People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
Good morning all! Neither fog, nor rain, nor cold, nor wind in Spring will keep me from loving Michigan (most days).
As Laura points out, Parkman said on the program yesterday that he took the case because he was "told he couldn't win - loves a challenge and really LIKES Kwame".
Isn't this disturbing? Usually, you hear these guys state that they just KNOW their client is innocent, that everyone deserves adequate representation, etc. But NONE of Parkman's reasons were noble!
And another thing. Why is it that so many people connected to this case are tax scofflaws? Do any of you even know anyone who doesn't pay their taxes? I don't (or at least I don't know about it, anyway). But since we've been following this case, character after character enter the picture, and we find out that most of them are in arrears in their property and/or income taxes, in parking tickets, fines. etc. I've never seen anything like it! Yet they get appointed to big jobs with the City!
I remember reading this article a while back about CB: http://www.detnews.com/2005/metro/0502/18/D01-93887.htm
Never have I seen such a tangled mess of finances, from someone who actually held a position of responsibilty in the administration! Where do they find these people?
