Re: Guiles already showing favoritism
Kathy 1007: GLDDET:
Ironically enough you can tell the individuals who do not live in Detroit. Their comments are coarse, and defammatory. And yet, how does that quote go..... "Sarcasm is a substitute for Intelligence". I am really getting a bit fed up with outsiders. Telegraph to the West, Alter to the East, 8 Mile to the North, and the Detroit River borders this City. To me the late Coleman A. Young said it best in response to the statement.... "Turn the lights out, Detroit is done". " Anybody who doesn't like Detroit hit 8 Mile Rd. And many of those who took that statement to heart, eventually came back though many of them won't admit it. (By the way, L. Brooks Patterson made the statement)
Saying that to say this, the Judicial System is what it is. And yet, there are many levels of it. Anyone who believes any different is extremely naive. We have (3) three Court Systems that operate daily in our fair City. We have a City Court, a State Court, and a Federal Court who all operate Monday thru Friday at least from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. And let's not forget they all have their own versions of night court as well. So to imply anything as ludacris to say.... "Already showing Favoritsim" warrants an equally idiotic response. "DUH !!" The WHOLE COUNTRY has their eyes on this one. Trust me if the "I's" aren't dotted, and the "T's" aren't crossed on this one, there will be H--L to pay.
So to all of the individuals who come to the City to purposely portray Detroit in a bad light. You know when you come to Tigers, Red Wing, and Lions games remember one thing. It's easy to put blame on everything, and everyone else. But, how would you feel if the spotlight is on you. You know like that moron who poured his beer on Ron Artest ? When it was all said and done he wasn't a resident. But, who got the blame... the City of Detroit. The average fan is not a moron, and does not want to be treated as such. And myself as a Resident, NEITHER do I.
Its late and I am a night owl so no one is probally reading this yet buy WOW who is this scary person "MOVEON" ?
You shouldn't try to do daytime things at night.

Missy55367: Tushana:
From Free Press
Speech at the grand opening of the DPD's new Central Distict station.
His opening statement:
"This is the day the Lord has made" reading a passage from Psalms.
Now remember he is doing God's work...he BELIEVES it and knows this will keep the momentum of his support at an all time high within the community.
I think I am on the old forum oops
Tushana, that's good that he knows his Bible. Maybe he can be part of a prison ministry once he's convicted!
Reverend Jim Jones could quote the bible backwards and forwards yet he led 900 people to Guyana in the 1970's and had each and every one of them drink kool-aid laced with cyanide. The ones that refused to drink the kool-aid were shot. Men, women and children. Reading the bible and quoting the bible can be done by anyone, following God's word is the hard part and it is something that neither Jim Jones nor Kwame Kilpatrick are capable of doing.

doodles:Kwame has implemented a new policy that text messages sent on city-owned devices are considered private. What a hoot!! Maybe he's got someone else on the side that he wants to start texting.
If taxpayers are footing the bill for those phones, then they have a right to see the info. If a city employee/official wants to keep their messages and phone calls private, they should buy their own phone!
This invidual has serious charges that have brought against him yet he can continue to implement policy changes....he not only believes he is doing God's work but believes he IS God. I have been thinking....maybe he simply has multiple personalities...maybe his new persona will be Jim Jones or maybe he is practicing the "ministry personality.???"

Re: Mayor's Scandal: Prosecutor's Decision
Seymourhundley:Have we forgotten about a standard of our Nation's judicial system and what is stated before each trial begins after jury selection that the accused is presumed to be innocent until all proofs are received in evidence? So is the case of Mayor Kilpatrick and Christine Beatty. The media has exposed a situation that has captured the attention of all. It is not to blame the media for reporting a story, but in the case of Mayor Kilpatrick it has distracted all the good that has occurred during his administration and the visions for the future of a great City. Detroit had become stagnant and lacked growth in business, but today we see new businesses and new residential development popping up all over Detroit. Little is said of his revitilazation of our City, because so much time is caught up in the scandal of sex, lies and text messages. City Council should be about the business of the City and leave the matter of the law to the Courts. Let the trial go forward and in the event Mayor Kilpatrick is convicted, then the matter is closed. It is an imcredible waste of tax dollars to use Council time on a witch hunt to decide what to do with the Mayor. The Mayor and his Chief of Staff may be morally corrupt, but that is a matter for their love ones and GOD to deal with. If he seek redemption, repents and is forgiven that is a matter for Carlita and GOD. We are too busy convicting the Mayor for past trangressions, things that happened more than six (6) years ago. As to the perjury the trial goes on and the Mayor will have his day in Court as all Americans have as a right.
You just don't get it. Leaving a crook in office so he can do more stealing, lying , and cheating is why he needs to be thrown out now. Leave him in office so he can keep destroying and refusing to turn over evidence, I don't think so.

A little peice of FBI training (which this is from a friend) they say the one that preaches about God and is wearing an "I Love Jesus"shirt...are the ones you DO NOT trust...they're the biggest criminals. As I can vouche for that as I have experienced that w/ a friend who I gave $ to. Don't get me wrong I'am a good Catholic person.

Monica is true to her character;JUICEHEAD BARFLY. Her and all the spineless council are a joke and and embarassment and no. none of them have the balls to tell girl friend to shut up.
I agree with you. Ms. Cockrell, and Ms. Collins have no trouble with partaking of the grape as well. And I must admit that it is a bit hard to keep up with the topics. This forum is unlike others that I participate in, the topics seem to interchange at will. But, I will do my best to keep up without offending anyone hopefully. As everyone else is I'm just attempting to voice my opinion.
And again, I'm not saying I walk on water, I'm a saint, or my mouth is a prayer book. I'm just expressing my opinion in this particular venue on these various topics. I purely have no intentions of willfully trying to offend anyone. I'm just expressing MY own opinions on various topics of my choosing.

Kwame's Brand New Private Text Message Policy
This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!!
Oh so just because HE got caught doing wrong on city issued phones now it's OK to do what ever you want on the phones and get away with it? HELLO! There's no such thing as privacy on a city paid for, public phone! That's right the taxpayers pay for that bad boy! Therefore ITS NOT YOUR PROPERTY! Otherwise what's the difference between that and a privately owned phone....Kwame?! See you're still trying to do your dirt and have the Detroit taxpayers who you "claim" to know and love FOOT THE BILL!! Here's an idea if you want lawfully private conversations BUY YOUR OWN PHONE! No one can touch it! Otherwise, use the city phone to conduct CITY BUSINESS not to call your women! Man, is this guy serious!? I mean is he really this stupid? How the heck did he get a law degree? If they're giving them out that easily then our country's judicial system is in trouble!
Any idiot knows the rules that are standard in any regular company, big or small, across the country! Your desk, your work computer, your work phone, even the closet you hang your coat in are all the COMPANY'S property! Therefore they have the right to inspect and fire you if they find anything other than work related material on or in any of them!!
Same in real life. If you own a house and your son/daughter comes home and sticks illegal drugs under their bed, are you going to be like 'Oh well can't do or say anything about it because under their bed is their own private domain, even though it's within the house that I PAY FOR! Get outta here!
All this new policy shows is his arrogance and stupidity are still intact and he is in no way sorry for all the wrong he did and continues to do in Detroit. He is a complete joke, and what's worse is he's taking Detroit down with him.
WAKE UP DETROIT!! GET HIM OUTTA OF HERE!

Agreed. Now Detroit must be the only entity in the WORLD that has an assumption of privacy policy. I have never heard of any organization stating that personal privacy is to be assumed when using the assets that are paid for by that entity.
Only in Kwameland.

GLDDET,
I apologize for anyone making you feel unwelcome here. I think some of these forums attain some sort of "groupthink" at times; when a member mentions something that goes against the majority, all kinds of things get said that are not kind. No opinion or poster is more important than another; our opinions should all carry equal weight.

To Missy55367:
I appreciate the sentiment, although I am not thin-skinned. I know when you voice your opinion it will not be readily accepted by some. Especially when you are a Newbie. But, I have been through the drill enough not to take what anyone says personally. Afterall this is a cyber-space link, we are not sitting across from one another at the local watering hole. In some cases, the conversation would go an entirely different direction. Let's just say some people are braver with a cover of an anonymous flare.
So I will be able to hold my own. Afterall, I'm speaking MY mind what can be wrong with that. Sometimes you need slides, and graphs to document what you say. And in those cases, I won't fall short either. So "Thank You" again for your concern, and your welcome to theses forums.
