This is ridiculous! There are people who are saying that former President, Bill Clinton, did the same thing, perjure himself when asked about a sexual indiscretion, which is true. However, it still doesn't make it right. The difference between former President Clinton and Mayor Kilpatrick is that we, the nation, was in a financial upsweep. We had a surplus. We were doing well financially, speaking as a nation under Clinton't administration weather you liked him or not. His, Clinton's, personal actions, did not adversely affect our economy or his ability to lead. In comparison to what is going on now in Detroit, we are in a economic crisis! The $9 million and the $6 million in damages that WE, the tax payers of the city, have to pay the two officers who brought charges against the city, could have been better used for services that we so DESPERATELY need like tearing down the abandoned buildings that are on virtually every street.
The Mayor should have LEARNED from Clinton's mistake. Don't say you didn't do something if you did. Unfortunately, public officials, lives are in the spotlight. Not saying that, that is right-it is a reality.
I'm not going to say what he should do but if and/or when a recall petition comes my way, I will definitely sign it so it can be put on the ballot in the upcoming November election or special election if need be.
