TAX.....don't let your wife catch you doing nothing except listening/typing. HAHA  Addicting isn't it??
My wife is compooter illiterate. If she knew HALF of the insane emails I send to council members she would go totally Monica on my butt. I pay my property taxes and if I had a job I would have to pay my city taxes. I am totally sick of politicians who feel they are above the laws the rest of us have to abide by. I was listening this morning to the scanner and heard them talking about a B&E on 7 mile. My wife just called and told me that a barber shop on 7 mile had been broken into and police were there. Now some poor guy who is trying to make an honest buck as a barber has to repair his store and replace whatever items are missing. It is pitiful that a handful of jacka$$es are out running around doing all these crimes while honest hardworking folks get screwed. It is a handful. If you look at the crime sprees of these idiots you get a clear idea that it is just a few jerks ruining this city. The majority of my neighbors are lawyers and professionals but we have a handful of losers fuggin things up.

One last thought. Monica doesn't like the fact that people that don't look like her get jobs in Detroit but yet she has NO PROBLEM collecting bribes from folks that don't look like her. RACIST BIOTCH!

Okay this is about the 50int time I have tried to post this, the Martha Reeve's story from the freep, which I am sure many of you have either read or heard about was hilarious, and had I not been laughing so hard I would think it was sad (sad to the fact that she actually did an interview in London and stated the same things the reporter was asking her about.  Really, majority vote with 8 people.

Freep article I had to copy and paste into a word document (1st time this has happened)

Which job is Reeves' top performance?

BY BILL McGRAW • FREE PRESS COLUMNIST • July 1, 2009

She's back, so it seemed fair to call Detroit City Councilwoman Martha Reeves on Tuesday and ask about her singing trip to England last week.

How was London? What did fans in Liverpool tell you? What did you mean when you told the BBC interviewer that being a councilwoman is "a second job I have" -- after being a performer?

But Reeves was not buying into the idea that she might have done anything questionable, like missing six days of work at an $81,000-a-year job that comes with a staff and a Ford Crown Victoria.

And she refused to say which of her jobs is more important -- representing Detroiters at a traumatic time of the city's history or performing abroad as "Motown's ultimate soul diva," as the British press called her.

"Elected officials have lives, too," she said, explaining that it is no secret that she travels as a singer. She said her council colleagues miss a lot of work, too, though she didn't name names.

"Council is in session every day," said Reeves. "The whole majority is not there every day."

Reeves, who is seeking re-election to the council, toured England as leader of Martha and the Vandellas. They joined other acts for a Motown 50th anniversary tour in a land where the classic Detroit sound remains extremely popular.

Reeves missed critical council votes on water and sewerage rates and a discussion of legislation concerning the vital issue of regionalizing the operation of Cobo Center.

On Monday, in a historic moment, six council members called for their disgraced colleague, Monica Conyers, to resign. Reeves missed that, too.

Reeves said she shows up at the council table "more than most" of her colleagues. While figures were not available Tuesday, observers said Reeves does appear to have a good overall attendance record. She also said that with nine council members -- now eight -- her absence isn't crucial, because "all we need is a majority" to pass legislation.

Reeves said her staff includes policy analysts who keep her up-to-date on council issues. She is always reachable while away, she noted, and she takes work on the road.

Yet after returning to Detroit on Monday, Reeves had no clue about one of the biggest council issues of the year -- the resignation of Conyers -- until a reporter told her about 6 p.m.

So which of her two high-profile jobs comes first? When talking to the BBC during her trip, Reeves seemed clear that her political job back in Detroit was an avocation that helps keep her active and sharp.

During our conversation, Reeves, 67, said she has been a councilwoman for only four years and a performer for more than 40.

OK, chronologically, singing came first. But what is her primary job these days? What is her priority? Which job is she moonlighting at?

    She wouldn't say.

We went back and forth a few times. Nothing.

"It's up to you to say," she said. "I don't think I have to."

She said "waking up and breathing every morning is my priority," and "I do whatever is presented to me."

She seemed to be saying she takes instructions from above.

"It's a God thing," Reeves confirmed. "I can do all things through Christ."

Martha and the Vandellas have some tour dates coming up, and I asked Reeves if she would have to miss council to travel.

    She sang "no."

That's right, she sang the word rather than spoke it, and her voice was both startling and melodious as it came across the phone.

    "You're singing," I said.

    Reeves responded: "I'm always singing."

Let me clarify because I was misleading in my statement. As a child I enjoyed the Jackson Five and their music. As a young adult I very much liked Thriller and the album prior to Thriller. My only problem now is that over the course of the past 20 years I have grown to loathe everything MJ due to the mistreatment of young boys by Micheal. And yes I know the words to many of his older songs. I am not currently a fan of what Micheal became.

Martha is so stupid that she once stayed up all night cramming for a urine test. This woman is unGodly stupid. I won't even go into that stupid story about my one personal experience with Martha in 2006. I will spare all of you the details but suffice it to say, she LOVED Kwame and had no problem expressing her love of Kwame and this was after the jerk had just stolen 250k from the petty cash fund and another 250k from the city credit card. (of which he paid $9000 back. Martha Reeves is STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID  STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID!!! (gotta love copy and paste)

I have a private contest running in my mind as to which council member is the stupidest. At one time it was a dead tie between the three stooges, Monica Conyers, Martha reeves and Barbara Rose Collins. Barbara Rose was disqualified due to the fact that she is suffering from full blown dementia. Monica Conyers is now disqualified because she has resigned from council. Which leaves Martha Reeves as the grand prize winner of the most stoopidest council member in the history of this city. I am still writing the FBI field office in Detroit to help Martha Claim her grand prize of 10 years in a cozy federal pen.

    More on the Riddler

Where is this going to end??? I wouldn't be suprised by anything anymore. If the FBI had 2005 videotape evidence of G.W. Bush and Bill Clinton sitting in a 1984 Yugo in the parking lot of the KFC on 7 mile accepting a fitty dollar bribe from Kernal Sanders while they all puff on a crackpipe supplied by Ronald McDonald and Barbara Rose Collins dances on the roof while simultaneously working out differential math equations on a chalkboard I still wouldn't be shocked. On second thought, if Martha Reeves actually showed up to a council meeting and made an intelligent argument over ANY issue...that would shock me. This friggin rabbit hole is deep Alice.

Riddle: FBI probed $50K deal with Dems

He, state Dem boss differ over why he got paid

Paul Egan / The Detroit News

Detroit -- Political consultant Sam Riddle says federal investigators have questioned $50,000 he received in 2006 from the Michigan Democratic Party-- payments he described as election year "hush money."

In a recent interview with a Detroit News editor, Riddle said the Democrats paid him not to say negative things about Gov. Jennifer Granholm, who faced a challenge from Republican businessman *** DeVos in the November election that year.

FBI agents also questioned Riddle about connections between Granholm and business consultant Bernard N. Kilpatrick, the father of then-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, said Riddle, the former chief of staff to Councilwoman Monica Conyers.

Granholm and Bernard Kilpatrick worked together in the administration of the late Wayne County Executive Edward H. McNamara in the 1990s. Federal agents have been investigating payments made to Bernard Kilpatrick's consulting firm, Maestro Associates LLC, by companies seeking contracts with the city of Detroit while his son was mayor.

Mark Brewer, chairman of the Michigan Democratic Party, said the $50,000 contract with Riddle's Meridian Management Systems of Flint was for media consulting and was not specifically related to the gubernatorial campaign.

"I can't be responsible for what Sam now says about the contract," Brewer said. "The contract was for media consulting services, and we did in fact consult him about appropriate messages and people to talk to for the fall campaign.

"We have had absolutely no inquiries from law enforcement about this contract," Brewer said.

Liz Boyd, a spokeswoman for Granholm, said the governor had no comment on what Riddle said.

"Clearly, that is a matter between Mr. Riddle and the Michigan Democratic Party," Boyd said of the contract. "I have nothing to add."

As for the FBI asking questions about ties between Granholm and Bernard Kilpatrick, "it is not unreasonable to assume that if the FBI is investigating someone, they might ask questions about someone they might have once worked with or known," Boyd said.

Federal Election Commission records show the Democrats paid Riddle's company the money in five $10,000 installments on July 15, July 29, Sept. 6, Oct. 10 and Nov. 5. The election was Nov. 7.

Granholm's links to Bernard Kilpatrick were also an issue last July, when The News reported that Granholm spoke to a top official in the U.S. Attorney's Office about whether it was possible to have a joint resolution of the ongoing federal investigation of Detroit City Hall-- in which Bernard Kilpatrick was a major focus-- and her review of then-Mayor Kilpatrick's conduct in office, which was then pending.

A day after that article appeared, the Detroit Free Press reported that Granholm also asked then-First Assistant U.S. Attorney Terrence Berg about the strength of the government's case against Bernard Kilpatrick-- an allegation her office denied.

In a related development Tuesday, Detroit businessman Jim Papas said Conyers approached him about hiring Riddle in 2006 because "she felt her budget was too limited."

But Papas denied any wrongdoing or connection between a $20,000 contract with Riddle and a letter that Conyers' husband, U.S. Rep. John Conyers, wrote to federal agents in support of Papas' controversial deep injection well. John Conyers' staffers had opposed the project.

Papas, who issued a statement saying he is not a target of investigators, said he asked a staffer for John Conyers to write the letter. Riddle had nothing to do with it, Papas said. Conyers issued a statement early Tuesday denying any wrongdoing and saying he reconsidered his position "in the context of the congressman's representational duties to his constituents."

Federal agents said Conyers had no knowledge of his wife's crimes and didn't attempt to influence the investigation. Monica Conyers pleaded guilty Friday to conspiracy to bribery for accepting at least $6,000 to switch her position on a $1.2 billion sludge-hauling contract, allowing it to pass in 2007.

Staff Writers Christine MacDonald and Deb Price contributed.

I hope city council reads the story about the 3 year old wandering the streets. After discussing how racist the newspaper was to report this story they would undoubtably come up with a useless resolution saying that a 3 year old maybe shouldn't be wandering alone unless they absolutly have to for work or school purposes. That is the type of hard charging effective council we have in Detroit. Then the three year old would end up debating Monica Conyers...and win.

I can see your point. I did not mean to offend anyone, I can be caustic. Michael Jackson was a tragic figure used for his talent. No wonder he became very different. I have seen pictures where his " kids" wore veils and masks. He loved them and was afraid they would be exploited too is my thinking. In his weird way he was trying to protect them. Now for Detroit's own version of weird, we have Ridlle. Monica, Granholm, Kilpatrick. My sis just heard that Riddle is claiming Granholm and daddy Bernard had a thing. I won't be able to get that sick mental image out of my head for awhile.

Riddle is claiming that the Democratic Party paid him $50,000 hush money to keep quiet about Granholm before her last election, that the feds asked him about this money.  If there is any truth to this, there are so many tentacles attached to this whole corruption mess, that by the time the feds wrap this up none of us will be here to post about it.  I wonder if that is why she was trying to get so cozy to the new Obama crew.
