I find this curious. The media is all over the story about how Charles Pugh lost his condo to foreclosure and how is he going to be able to handle city finances if he can't handle his own etc. I'm kind of non-committal on this issue because I am still basking in the glow of knowing that Kwame is out of power along with Monica, Barbara Rose and Martha Reeves. However, what I want to point out is this. The media do not seem to devote equal time to the fact that Joanne Watson is a friggin property tax cheat so how do you not say anything about that larda$$ criminal. Also, they say little about Kwame Kenyattas forclosure yet they are all over Charles Pugh like a dang hobo on a ham sammich! I'm just saying they should have devoted equal time to all three.

Good point, tax.  Maybe it's because those other two deadbeats are already part of Detroit politics.  But Pugh is a new entry, PLUS he's at the head of the ship (he seems to have always been in the lead for council President), so maybe they are being more circumspect regarding him.  Plus, he is one of their peers in the media, and maybe they expect more of him.

In any case, it's too bad ANY of these deadbeats were elected at all.  But it's good that Gary Brown got elected!  And I'm glad Ken Cockrel is back (but not at #4; he should have been #1)!

And it's too bad Mr Bennett (Detroit Uncovered owner) didn't make it.  He seemed like a straight shooter.

would have taken him over kenyatta and watson in a heartbeat.

I was really hoping Bennet would get on council. Not only because I think he has a great deal of integrity and courage but also because it would have helped in his personal healing process. I think it has helped Gary Brown's healing process. After going through the hell that the demonKwame put them through it's good to see them both prospering. Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit Detroit.

TAX you are so entertaining...I bet your wife just laughs all the time.  I'm telling you, stand up comedy, we'll be the first in line to buy tickets.

Did you notice that everytime there's a KK story that the citizens just swarm and it always ends up to be like 300 comments.  HAHA  And they are funny today.  KK, MC, and Granmole don't stand a chance when it's time to comment on a story about them.

Thank you Kimberly. My wife is a wonderful woman but her eyes glaze over any time I try to talk about Kwame or Detroit or any political story. She prefers to remain blissfully ignorant to politics. She is far more concerned with who got kicked off of Dancing with The Stars or Survivor than she is with the elections in Detroit. That is why this forum is so important to me, I suppose. It allows me to vent a lot of my frustrations about local and national politics.

Here is a site called Project Censored which compiles a list of the top 25 stories NOT brought to you by the mainstream media. You can pick up a copy of Metrotimes to see this. Metrotimes publishes this every year. http://www.projectcensored.org/top-stories/category/two-thousand-and-ten-book/ There are some terrific stories in here.

Conyers sentencing rescheduled for Jan. 15 in bribery case

Paul Egan / The Detroit News

Detroit -- The sentencing date for former Detroit City Councilwoman Monica Conyers has been pushed back to Jan. 15, according to documents filed today in U.S. District Court in Detroit.

Conyers pleaded guilty to a bribery charge in June, admitting to taking cash in exchange for what proved to be the deciding vote in the Detroit City Council's approval of a $1.2 billion sewage sludge contract in 2007.

On Oct. 27, U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn set a Dec. 1 sentencing date for Conyers. But he issued a new order today pushing the sentencing back to early next year.

No reason was given for the delay, except that it best served the interests of justice.

The charge against Conyers is part of a long-running and wide-ranging federal corruption investigation that has resulted in charges against city officials, businessmen and political consultant Sam Riddle, a former aide to Conyers.

Detroit businessman Rayford Jackson, a co-defendant in the case of the sludge contract awarded to Synagro Technologies Inc. of Texas, is to be sentenced Nov. 13.

Another defendant, former Synagro official James R. Rosendall Jr., is to be sentenced Nov. 30.

Riddle plans to go to trial, which is scheduled for January.

Prosecutors sometimes will delay a defendant's sentencing until related trials in the case have been completed.

Tushana, Monica's sentencing has been moved to Jan 15th.  Love that this will better serve the interest of justice, probably only to get past the holidays, perhaps a little favor given to someone ?

Thanks. Article took care of all questions.  Caught the "will better serve the interest of justice." :0)  She sure has been quiet.  Too quiet.

Maybe this will be a good thing because Riddle's trial starts in early January and something could come out against mc at that time.

    Re: For RayStar

Thanks Missy for being my "spokeswoman".  You did an excellent job and I appreciate it.

RayStar:  As the regular posters on this board know, I was diagnosed w/cancer this year.  I don't frequent this or any board that often anymore.....certainly not like I did last year.  When I do get some energy going, I spend my time trying to get things done around the house.  Every now & then I try and check-in just to see what's going on with everyone.  Sometimes months have gone by since I've checked out this forum.  I had a few minutes that day and decided to post.  Today is the first chance I've had to even get back online to see if anyone had answered my post, not that I really expected anyone too.  Please understand that this forum is not an important part of my life at this moment and I don't feel that I'm committing a crime by not checking in everyday.  Frankly, I don't understand your hostility towards someone else answering for me.  Missy knows my situation and I appreciate the fact that she took the time to answer your question for me.

Geez, has anyone else wondered why the investigation on Bernard Kilpatrick seems to be at a total standstill when they had so much evidence on him???????   Hmmmmmmmm  Oh please don't reply to that as I probably won't be online to answer it for a couple of weeks----have a very hectic schedule with dr appts and CT scans!   Wasn't meant as a direct question....just something to ponder about!

Kimberly.....I looked but couldn't find the right article. I guess it is the time of year, or the moon, but there have been ghosts around lately.  Check out the search on the top of the forum page and look at  some oldies profiles, amazing when they last checked the forum.

yep saw the post.  was going to mention it but didn't want to open a can of worms.  Tantra is multiple posters and continues to post here as well.  There is more freedom to really go way off posting on the other sites.  Harder to figure it out who is who over there.

Get Real...... Yeah I've felt the presence of ghosts too.  Have for awhile.  I know it's been said that  you  "can't take your money with you",  but what about laptaps???

Not that hard to figure things out on some posters.  You just have to pay attention to the little mistakes they unknowingly make.  "Oh what webs we weave, when first we try to deceive."

Good luck Doodles, I know all about the many Dr. appt./scans.  I have a few left myself like in a 1/2 hr. , you're still in our prayers.

Yes Bernard and I'm still shocked KK is still getting away w/ so much.  For Pete's sake end the misery/tax dollars and just give him the 1 2 punch.  I'm not sure about Groner.  We need to put the pressure cooker on him.  If he still doesn't do anything then we all should protest and have him accountable for this mess too.

I can't change my name or even my password, I wouldn't remember and don't even remember what I did yesterday.  Way too much work/drama.
