    Council Moves to Oust Mayor

What do you think of city council's actions against Mayor Kilpatrick?

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

It is lamentable that it has come to this! Though I am not a resident, it is where I was born and raised so I belieive I should have a say contrary to the Mayor's belief. I am glad that the Council has taken steps to remove this piece of business from the shoe of the City.

I can hope that the Citizens will learn from this lesson and elect a mayor that is looking out for the City's future and not become jaded with wanting to "regulate". I will always consider myself a Detroiter, NO MATTER WHERE I LIVE!

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

IF THE MAYOR IS SO INNO0CENT WHY DOES HE HAVE 8 ATTORNEYS?

I THINK THE COUNCIL AND GOV. GRAHOLM SHOULD HAVE TAKEN HIM OUT OF OFFICE WHEN THE INFORMATION FIRST CAME OUT.

WHY LEAVE HIM IN TO HIRE MORE RELATIVES, OR TO SPEND MORE OF DETROIT'S MONEY ON HIS FRIENDS AND TOYS OR PAY FOR HIS ATTORNEYS WITH DETROIT MONEY.

I THINK HE IS AS GUILTY AS SIN.   DETROIT USED TO BE A DECENT PLACE TO

LIVE  WE MOVED 4 YEARS AGO .

I think the council is doing the right thing. It is their business. Their city.

If it was anyone else it wouldn't even have gotten this far.The mayor is not above the law like he thinks. I couldn't even sit on a trial if I knew the prosecutors personally. Why should thing change for the mayor. All those judges should be disqualitified..

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

I think that it is a political move in order to give the city council more power by the time this move goes through the mayor won't be in office anyway just another way to waste tax payer money- They should oust the bunch of them, they all should resign and let Robbie Timmons, Carolyn Clifford, Eric Smith and the gang run the city!

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

Still a whole lot of stammering.  All three options should have been unanimous against Kwame.  Inmature people like Conyers should not be in positions of authority in the first place.  She's one of Kwame's team, and apparently has at least three other Kwame cohorts in the group.  Kwame is now the wrong person for the job, and it's obvious that his indiscretions and subsequent lies are only the tip of the iceberg.  Now the ignorance of many others is becoming readily apparent - most everyone that has gone public with their support of Kwame.  I don't mean just the ones who are open Kwame supporters.  I include the closet Kwame supporters that get on the airwaves and don't let anyone present the facts about the Kwame situation.  They are argumentative and loud, and do their best to filibuster during any discussion.  Ignore the facts and deny, deny, deny.  This is the Kwame defense.  I'm sure the courtroom will be filled with much of the same.

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

I say its about time! The money that the council will need to oust the mayor is nothing compared to what the mayor has spent using tax payers dollars and what he would continue to spend if left as mayor of the city of Detroit.

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

The mayor needs to step down and stop acting like he didn't do anything. He says he is about

the citys business. Was he about the citys business when he had his love affair with Christine?

I think he is a stink in the citys nostril, how many more crooked deals will the rest of Detroit

put up with. I am very sad for Mrs. Kilpatrick and his children. Thank you WXYZ for trying

    to help Detroit.

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

Kwame needs to go.  We cannot afford the party anymore.  We have not begun to discover the financial, political, and legal problems he has imposed on  this city with his lack of integrity.  The city council, were brave, and made an historical decision to save this city.  They should be commended their stance for justice, and not being influenced with individuals that are out for themselves.

When you take a professional job, you are responsible to the people that pay your salary, in this case, the citizens of Detroit.  How many street lights could be working with $8.4 million dollars? How about $8.4 million to educate our children so we all can have a future?  How about spending the time on our kids like we are spending on Kwame's booty call?  Kwame, what about working instead of sending 625,000 text messages, did we pay you to do that?  I would get fired if I sat at worked and sent 20,000 text messages to my booty call!

See, the problem here is money and power.  Money and power is dangerous without character, integrity, and a purpose for your community.

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

I agree and support the members of The Detroit City council decision to remove Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick from office.  He does not have the best interest of the city or its residents.  He is ineffective as a mayor.  Govoner Granholm will not step in to have him remove either she fears political ramifications for herself.  The mayor should have to pay back the city out of his salary as a form of retribution for malfeasance of city tax dollars to hide his affair and ruin two good poliece officers careers because of his own selfish behavior.  He is not any positive role model to even his own children.  If Christine Beatty is a smart woman she cop a plea bargain send his sorry butt to jail where he belongs.

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

MY NAME IS BONNIE I HAVE LIVE HERE MOST MY LIFE AND THIS CITY COUNCIL SPENDING MORE TIME AND MONEY ON THIS MESS AND THE CITY IS NOT MOVING FORWARD AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE CITY COUNCIL MAKE ME THINK HE WANT THE JOB CAN IS FILL THAT JOB I THINK NOT. WE NEED A NEW CITY COUNCIL ALSO SOME OF THESE COUNCIL MEMBERS DO NOT THINK FOR THEMSELF ALLOW OTHER TO THINK FOR THEM. THE COUNCIL NEED TO SPEND THEIR TIME RUNNNING THE CITY AND ALLOW THE COURT TO TAKE CARE OF THE MAYOR IF GULITY THEN WHATEVER HAPPEN WILL BE. ALLOW THE  SYSTEM TO WORK AND THE CITY COUNCIL TO MOVE FROM THE MAYOR SIT. THAT IS HOW I FEEL I'M SICK OF HEARING ABOUT THE MAYOR AND THE COUNCILMEMBER.

MOVE ON TO OTHER BUSINESS HERE IN THE CITY MAYOR STAY IN THE OFFICE TILL YOUR TERM IS UP.FROM A DETROIT GRANDMOTHER
