I live in Detroit and i voted for the mayor and love see him stay in office until his time in over because the mayor have done a lots for city of Detroit and let judge do their job he is instance until proved gulity the city council do theirs jobs and let court do their job with the mayor the city council or old and just hated on the mayor instead of doing their jobs it to many of them to powder hunger they do not care about this city they are most is old timer and just do not like the mayor because he is young and smart yes he have made some mistake he not first mayor and want be last one mayor but he have did more for this city since mayor young so please stop wasting taxes payer money and let the court do their job and the mayor do his job until his terms is over.Your are hurting his family this mayor have kids and wife that already have a lots on their plate so why add more.Ms.P McGee

    Ms. McGee

Are you kidding me? The "MAYOR" has hurt his wife and family. The "MAYOR" has continued to lie, cheat and steal from the citizens of the City, and YOU should be mortified that he hasn't been stopped from stealing even more from the citizens of the city that have little to nothing left. Kwame has done NOTHING. Dennis Archer is the one who brought the Super Bowl, and Dennis Archer is the one that brought every positive thing that has come to Detroit in the last 10 years. Kwame was just there to soak up the benefits.

No one cares if Kwame has done every woman in the State of Michigan... this is about him lying, and stealing. He has already admitted that he lied. That is what his little speech from church was about... sitting their with Carlita, pretending to be sorry. The ONLY thing he is sorry about is getting caught lying.

His family should be embarrassed. His boys... hanging out windows, throwing gang signs, really nice. I have no doubt that Kwame's children will end up being as literate as you are.

Before considering posting on a PUBLIC forum, such as this, you might want to learn how to spell, and the basic definitions of some rather common words, and some incredibly basic grammar.

"because the mayor have dones lots for city of Detroit and let judge do their job"

"he is instance until proven guilty" Did you mean innocent? He has admitted his guilt already.

"the city council do theirs jobs and let court do their job with the mayor the city council or old and just hated on the mayor instead of doing their jobs" WHAT??? No resemblance of English there...

"it to many of them to powder hunger they do not care about this city they are most is old timer and just do not like the mayor because he is young and smart" Are you trying to say, "power hungry"? Power hungry would be a Mayor that dresses like a pimp, spends money on extravagant vacations, and gets rid of Police Officers to protect the city. Power hungry would be a term that describes a Mayor that lied to cover-up an affair, and did so at the expense of Police Officers careers... without regard for their families. All because he puts his needs, power and money before that of the citizens he is suppose ot represent.

The fact that Kwame is "young" has absolutely nothing to do with anything. He is a thug, regardless of his age.

"yes he have made some mistake he not first mayor and want be last one mayor but he have did more for this city since mayor young" The problem isn't that he has made mistakes... the problem is that he made CONSCIOUS CHOICES, not errors. He made a CHOICE to lie. He made a CHOICE to play God. Coleman Young was a thief... no question, but that doesn't make it okay for this Mayor to be one too.

"so please stop wasting taxes payer money and let the court do their job and the mayor do his job until his terms is over." I believe you are trying to say, taxpayer money. The other issue is that this Mayor has never done the job he was elected to do. Detroit can't afford him spending money like a drunken sailor for the next 18 months. He needs to be stopped from his behavior immediately.

I do however agree that they should leave his big butt in office. My reason is different... if they remove him early, he could run again for office. Granted, I believe he will be in jail and unable to come back for several years... but why risk the voters being dumb enough to give him the keys to the cash again.

    observer:

I agree and support the members of The Detroit City council decision to remove Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick from office.  He does not have the best interest of the city or its residents.  He is ineffective as a mayor.  Govoner Granholm will not step in to have him remove either she fears political ramifications for herself.  The mayor should have to pay back the city out of his salary as a form of retribution for malfeasance of city tax dollars to hide his affair and ruin two good poliece officers careers because of his own selfish behavior.  He is not any positive role model to even his own children.  If Christine Beatty is a smart woman she cop a plea bargain send his sorry butt to jail where he belongs.

Granholm can't run for re-election... so she doesn't care about the politics. If Granholm went to remove Kwame, without him being convicted, without her being asked to do so by Council, or State Representatives or Senators, there would be a riot, literally. There are 8 State Senators from Wayne County, there are 23 State Representatives from Wayne County. None of them have done a THING. It was Rep. Law from Commerce Township that finally made a move last week, and of course the Mayor's office claims that Mr. Law has no compassion for the City. What a crock. I just don't get why everyone thinks it is Granholm's job to come in and remove him at this point. Like it or not... KK was elected by the people of Detroit... TWICE.

As much as we all may dislike the justice system at this point, the bottom line is, it's the best out there and we don't live in a country that you can just remove an elected official because YOU "know" he has done wrong. It takes more of a legal concensus than that folks. It's called democracy. If you don't like it, I hear Fidel Castro has room on the island :)

The City Council has the right idea but with the WEASELS he has  for  LEGAL REPRESENTATIVES I am sure they will delay any action to kick this CROOK out of office.  I fully expect these DISHONEST CROOKED WEASELS to stall Kwame's RIGHTFUL OUSTER from the Mayor's Office until after the next Mayoral Election.  I just hope that the citizens of Detroit continue to be aware of just how BIG A CROOK KWAME IS and do no allow him to remain in office any longer than they have to!!!

    edytheford:

Kwame needs to go.  We cannot afford the party anymore.  We have not begun to discover the financial, political, and legal problems he has imposed on  this city with his lack of integrity.  The city council, were brave, and made an historical decision to save this city.  They should be commended their stance for justice, and not being influenced with individuals that are out for themselves.

When you take a professional job, you are responsible to the people that pay your salary, in this case, the citizens of Detroit.  How many street lights could be working with $8.4 million dollars? How about $8.4 million to educate our children so we all can have a future?  How about spending the time on our kids like we are spending on Kwame's booty call?  Kwame, what about working instead of sending 625,000 text messages, did we pay you to do that?  I would get fired if I sat at worked and sent 20,000 text messages to my booty call!

See, the problem here is money and power.  Money and power is dangerous without character, integrity, and a purpose for your community.

Bravo Edy. Extremely well said. Funny thing about integrity, without it power and money become intoxicating. This Mayor is stone drunk on it.

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

It's sad that they were forced to do this.  My main concern, however, is the children.  What kind of example and what kind of message is Mayor Kilpatrick sending to the youth of Detroit?  I haven't heard this question addressed by anyone on the air.  Is the message that no matter what your ethics are or what you have done, once you are in power, you must maintain that power by any means possible?

You said it best, Edy.  The last sentence says it all.

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

Did you bother to proof read your message? What language were you speaking? Certainly not English! What exactly is "POWDER HUNGER"?  and "he are young"? Did you go to a Detroit school? You are making your teacher's mighty proud!  But one thing that is so interesting....the people that write letters like cutiepie55, are the only individuals that support the mayor. What does that tell you?

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

City Council needs to stop wasting time and money and get to the business at hand.  They can not remove him from office, and Governor Granholm has already said that she is going to let the courts run its course.

Stop holding the city back, the mayor is moving forward, and they should be doing the same.

    Love you Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

After all is said, and done as far as the city council of Detroit is concerned the mayor Kwame Kilpatrick should voluntary resign,or if not it'll have to eventually take Gov. Jennifer Granholm to legally force him out(after the criminal case,if it'll end up going to trial),and/or other options including censuring the mayor. For now it'll have to wait and see how it'll come out in court first. As in any defendant in court Kilpatrick, and Beatty are presumed innocent until found guilty of perjury, and other misconduct charges. I really do think that Detroit does need much better leadership at the mayor's office first always, and to focus on the most important issues of Detroit, and its people.-James Wilson/Montrose :)

What do you think of city council's actions against Mayor Kilpatrick?
I think the City Council should start attending to their business i.e. strip club licences,

all the ungodly businesses located in the city of Detroit.  We have more strip clubs in Detroit then any where else in MI and they ( City Council) keep allowing more to come to the city  Let the courts handle the case of the Mayor and you people clean up your act so we can begin to have a clean city .

I  would like to see all of them resign, what have they done for Detroit lately.  Oh yeah

every thing they can to make the Mayor look bad.  Mayors Fan

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

why are we wasting time and money on motions that  will bog down in court longer than the mayer have time in office ,he will not win reelection in this city, and will more than likly wind up in prison soon after the council was not so detailed in handing over 9million dollars thak they can't get back so let us spend the time and money we have left being more detailed in city business, and let the law have their turn at rectifying the cituation with K. KILPATRICK.  we must move on and we can't if the council remain bogged down in this matter.
