I'm not a detroiter but I was raised in detroit east side,I cannot vote to oust the mayor ,I wish I could.A while back I posted that I would do my part to help.Today, I did I cancelled my comcast tv and internet and was asked why as  they always do. I did tell them the reason was that they had given Kilpatrick  a program three days a week to speal his lies, that was really a slap in the face of the law abiding citezins.

this is one of the ways to show my support for the good people of detroit. The other I 've stopped going to the detroit casinos and sport events.

When the detroit elite that own businesses in detroit start seeing their profit fall from people  from the suburbs maybe they will get on the band wagon and start asking  for Kwame's resignation---------------

Again, thank you MiaMia. I thought of you many times yesterday, hoping that the installation was going well. We missed your humor and articles. Glad that you're up and "running again."

    Re: New privacy rules. OMG

Oh My God , did anyone just see on 7 The “Kwam” just reversed his stance regarding privacy requirements on text messages. Now he said you can expect SOME element of privacy on the city owned text pagers. OMG, What an IDIOT.

    68pt Font

Come on folks... is the 68pt, BOLD, red font necessary? It hurts my eyes to read it.

    Thanks

I think KK just screwed himself :)

    Okay...

If KK just "changed" city policy on the privacy of text messages sent on city owned devices...

Isn't he ADMITTING that previously, that none of the text messages were PRIVATE? Consequently, this should mean that ALL text messages, on ALL city owned devices, up to today, should be public record.

I know saying that they were private was a previous issue heard in front of Columbo but aren't KK's and CB's lawyers still trying to say that there is a privacy issue? If so... that takes care of that defense.

Also, I think that the Free Press, Detroit News, and WXYZ should be filing FOIA for EVERY text message from not only Skytel, but whomever the service was that replaced Skytel AFTER 2003.

I can't even imagine the goodies that would be found... especially starting in about September of last year until now.

Just a few random thoughts from the sunny beach in Cancun.

Yes the City was found Guilty as to the decisions the Mayor, and his then Chief of Staff made. They were and this is to my knowledge were sitting in as the Employer's seat if you will. And they were found Guilty of Wrongful Termination. And the jury awarded accordingly.  And during these precedings testimony that was given under oath, has since been proven to be grounds for CRIMINAL prosecution and that IS where we are now.

    GLDDET:
Somehow I believe you are confusing your events. What is going on now is an entirely different set of circumstances. The proceedings directed towards the Mayor and Ms. Beatty are a direct result of the findings of the wrongful termination suite lodged by the officers in question. The prosecutor felt that they had enough evidence to charge the Mayor and his then Chief of Staff  Ms. Beatty with several counts of perjury, along with several counts of obstruction of justice. Which in turn is where we are now. The process of appeals maybe lengthy, but everyone should be entitled to their day, or in this case days in Court.

I'm sorry but I think someone mentioned it yesterday. Didn't they (KK and CB) already have their day in court and lost 8.4 million dollars. They started out firing someone to cover up their lies, and continue to lie and challange the public to prove they didn't.

I wanted to answer everyone in order. But, it was originally for magenta. But I believe it can work for you as well.

    To keo10

You are definitely entitled to your opinion. But, as far as I'm concerned being the President of the City Council it's his job to be abreast of ALL the goings on be it positive, or negative. And as far as I'm concerned how can you have a co-worker who sits across from you on a regular interval, and not have some sort of idea of inpropriety going on. You know who the office supply thief is in your office. C'mon this was City business that should have made it to his desk if no one else's.

And if you say Mr. Cockrell Jr. doesn't have any skeletons in closet, you are sadly mistaken. Your so-called Mr. Perfect has litgation that he has on the hush hush right now. So again I say before you annoint him to be Saint Mr. President of City Council check with Steve Smith over at channel 7. Like I said I wouldn't give him a key to a Gym locker, let alone the key to the City.

Kwame is scared of those texts getting out

DETROIT (AP) - Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has implemented a new policy that text messages sent on city-owned devices are considered private.

Kilpatrick and his ex-top aide face perjury charges for testimony they gave during a whistleblowers' trial that they didn't have a romantic relationship. Sexually explicit text messages have contradicted that testimony.

Kilpatrick's lawyers say federal law protects the release of such communications.

Past policy had been electronic communications were public. The mayor's office said in a statement Thursday that city policies are always subject to change.

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

    Dear Glddet

You say that Ken Cockrel also has some things in his past that make you feel he is even less trustworthy than Kwame Kilpatrick.  I don't know what they are-or even if there are any things-but, if there are, they must be WHOPPERS to make him worse than Kwame!  And since he would only serve as mayor for 90 days, until a new election is held, I think that the city would be safe enough in his hands.

    Thanks for your concern, though.

Shortly after implementing this new policy Mayor Kilpatrick declared martial law, closed the Free Press, signed a non-aggression compact with Kym Jung Il, burned history books at the Detroit Library and had anyone with more than a fifth grade education "strawberried".

    Taxpayer

When I first heard this I thought for sure it was a joke!  Why did he limit himself to only text messages???  He should have just gone totally nuts and issued a proclamation saying that perjury, extra-marital affairs, and causing people to lose their jobs are no longer to be frowned upon but rather to be regarded as signs of a superior character!

I just read on firejerryo (the blog) that the reason Judge Giles postponed the next court date for Kwame was so that Kwame could attend the DNC in Denver.  Is that true????Could Judge Giles be that blatently in the pocket of Kwame?
