You are definitely entitled to your opinion. But, as far as I'm concerned being the President of the City Council it's his job to be abreast of ALL the goings on be it positive, or negative. And as far as I'm concerned how can you have a co-worker who sits across from you on a regular interval, and not have some sort of idea of inpropriety going on. You know who the office supply thief is in your office. C'mon this was City business that should have made it to his desk if no one else's.

And if you say Mr. Cockrell Jr. doesn't have any skeletons in closet, you are sadly mistaken. Your so-called Mr. Perfect has litgation that he has on the hush hush right now. So again I say before you annoint him to be Saint Mr. President of City Council check with Steve Smith over at channel 7. Like I said I wouldn't give him a key to a Gym locker, let alone the key to the City.

GLDDET, I did not say Ken Cockral was perfect or a saint, those are your words. I only know what I have seen in the last 4-5 months.  I know nothing about skeletons in his closet.  He has reponded to my emails in a honest and forthright manner when other council members totally ignored my emails.  And to sit there put up with Conyers, I have to give him a pat on the back!

And for that matter I was a very dear friend to both Ms. Everett, and Ms. Scott when they were alive. Worked at both their campaign headquarters when I could. For that matter my mother was a very good friend to Erma Henderson when she was alive (my mother [July 1987]) . I'll go you one better than that, my Dad made an appointment with Coleman Young to make absolutely sure I could never become a police officer. He devulged that little tid bit of info to me when we were at his baby sister's funeral. So it really doesn't matter what EACH individual case seems to be. I have not attempted to put ANY words in YOUR mouth. I'm just speaking MY thoughts, and MY feelings and I thought this was the venue where I would be able to do so. But, so many times I forget that only a chosen few get to speak their mind uncontested.

I've got to ask.  Is there a point here, with the name dropping??  If so, I missed it.  Secondly, uncontested?  If you look back, you'll find very few responses to your apparent animosity toward this group as a whole!  Why? I haven't the slightest.  Everything you post seems argumentative and as Laura stated earlier, that's not why we're here.  We've grown quite a bit on this board and know each other pretty well (to be bloggers) and I can tell you, to be part of this group, your energy and attitude will have to change.

Hey Boomer...I have to keep checking if I am on the old or new forum:)  GLDDET has alot of Detroit connections don't you think.  Actually my Auntie is very connected to Emma.  She completed an oil painting of her not to long ago.  They don't discuss politics.  They are spiritually bonded :)  Later Boomer :)

I just read on firejerryo (the blog) that the reason Judge Giles postponed the next court date for Kwame was so that Kwame could attend the DNC in Denver.  Is that true????Could Judge Giles be that blatently in the pocket of Kwame?

Giles did meet with Kwame's security person the day before the hearing - He was probably paid off at that time. I think Giles is in the thugs pocket.

You have to realize ALL of Detroit government is corrupt.  All branches are taking the taxpayers and citizens to the cleaners.  The only hope of getting justice is if the Feds come in to clean things up.  Look and what Giles and the Chief Judge of 36th district court have done.  They represent the judicial branch and they are as crooked as Kwame and his executive branch.  The city council, legislative branch, are also avoiding doing the right thing.  And don't forget about our lame ineffective governor.  Just keep listening to them about the wonderful city of Detroit.  Of course, it is wonderful to them because they are ripping it off for everything it is worth.  Can anyone tell ME what is wonderful about Detroit and why anyone would want to live here?  Yes, please let me know what Detroit has to offer and beyond that what has Michigan to offer?

Patterson, You are absolutely right, Detroit is nothing.. It once was a beautiful city with wonderful people, I know, we had a cleaners and two bar/restaurants there in the 60's-70's now it is a barren waste land - a slum with small pockets of civilzaton and thieves and carjackers everywhere.  No police, No garbage pick-up, high taxes for what? Rotten polictians like the Kilpatrik's. nothing -nothing - It started with Coleman Young when he took over the city and told the white people to stay on the other side of 8 mile road.  He wanted a all black Detroit and he got it, no white allowed!  Kilpatrick was trying to rule the same way and it does not work any longer.  All I can say is God bless the people that are holding on for something better to come along..I want Detroit to come back, but it took 20 years to go down and it will take 20 years to come back.

Glddet,  I certainly am not the chosen few, I am a poster just like you and I have responded to your post to me.  This is an open forum for all voices to be heard.

GLDDET, I agree w/keo.  We are all equal here; all voices should be heard.  In fact, it sounds like you may have a perspective that some of us lack.

Come on folks... is the 68pt, BOLD, red font necessary? It hurts my eyes to read it.

    Thanks

    actually I loved it for a change. :)  Gene I'm impressed.  :)

I sometimes use bright colors and odd fonts so I can back track easier to find my post.

Considering the terminal effect that you and your family have had in Detroit politics as you've demonstrated in the above paragraph, why haven't you already volunteered to work for kwame?  If you could only look beyond the mirror you would see the celebration!  I'm sure the rest of the forum knows what I mean.  And I'm not contesting you, I'm embracing you . You are a godsend , you just haven't realized it till now ;-)

Re: Kwame is scared of those texts getting out

    taxpayer:

DETROIT (AP) - Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has implemented a new policy that text messages sent on city-owned devices are considered private.

Kilpatrick and his ex-top aide face perjury charges for testimony they gave during a whistleblowers' trial that they didn't have a romantic relationship. Sexually explicit text messages have contradicted that testimony.

Kilpatrick's lawyers say federal law protects the release of such communications.

Past policy had been electronic communications were public. The mayor's office said in a statement Thursday that city policies are always subject to change.

Sometimes Kwame makes it too easy.

He as just undone weeks of work and spin that his overpaid attorneys have done.

In his new policy he admitted that prior to yesterday text messages and pager information were public. He was not clarifying the original policy, he reversed it.

Not to mention it's in violation of a couple State and Federal laws. They make the new policy useless.

He's panicking. Now his defense attorneys have to go to plan B.
