Re: JUST HEARD ON WJR THAT BEATTY IS CONSIDERING DEAL WITH PROSECUTOR!!
Kathy 1007: chxok1215: Laura56:OUR DREAMS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED!!!!!!!!!
Money (or lack of it) talks!!
I have to get to work. Please, anyone listen to the news and keep us posted!!!!
I actually read in the Free Press yesterday that after their court proceedings on Tuesday, KK went over to CB and hugged her and one kissed the other on the cheek.....what's that all about? Has she no sense at all? Why didn't she turn her back on him when she saw him coming? What does Carlita think about this? Is he trying to remind her how much they love each other and not to deal with the prosecuor? OOOOh it gets crazier and crazier and crazier......
I have not heard that but will watch. I would think it would be headlines. This is where suporters of this dangerous duo are confused, they both pray for forgiveness in tearful confessions at their churches, yet they will figh to the death to win this and cover the truth. If they were really remorseful and the like as their pastors say then they would just shut up and do the punishment. That would convince me they are really sorry. Roll over on KK . C.B. and I don't mean in the same bed. She should have slapped him in court, he is still playing her!
I wonder if this "story" was planted to test the waters or to try to get more money from the whales?

Good morning all. Beatty is not going to talk. MM has to be paid. KK has her back with our hard earned money through our tax payments.

Re: Kwame is scared of those texts getting out

I just read on firejerryo (the blog) that the reason Judge Giles postponed the next court date for Kwame was so that Kwame could attend the DNC in Denver. Is that true????Could Judge Giles be that blatently in the pocket of Kwame?
Giles did meet with Kwame's security person the day before the hearing - He was probably paid off at that time. I think Giles is in the thugs pocket.
You have to realize ALL of Detroit government is corrupt. All branches are taking the taxpayers and citizens to the cleaners. The only hope of getting justice is if the Feds come in to clean things up. Look and what Giles and the Chief Judge of 36th district court have done. They represent the judicial branch and they are as crooked as Kwame and his executive branch. The city council, legislative branch, are also avoiding doing the right thing. And don't forget about our lame ineffective governor. Just keep listening to them about the wonderful city of Detroit. Of course, it is wonderful to them because they are ripping it off for everything it is worth. Can anyone tell ME what is wonderful about Detroit and why anyone would want to live here? Yes, please let me know what Detroit has to offer and beyond that what has Michigan to offer?
Patterson, You are absolutely right, Detroit is nothing.. It once was a beautiful city with wonderful people, I know, we had a cleaners and two bar/restaurants there in the 60's-70's now it is a barren waste land - a slum with small pockets of civilzaton and thieves and carjackers everywhere. No police, No garbage pick-up, high taxes for what? Rotten polictians like the Kilpatrik's. nothing -nothing - It started with Coleman Young when he took over the city and told the white people to stay on the other side of 8 mile road. He wanted a all black Detroit and he got it, no white allowed! Kilpatrick was trying to rule the same way and it does not work any longer. All I can say is God bless the people that are holding on for something better to come along..I want Detroit to come back, but it took 20 years to go down and it will take 20 years to come back.
Morning Keo - I respectfully disagree that Detroit is nothing. If it was nothing none of us would be here trying to find out what is going on from different perspectives (unless some of us are just gossips) and possibly trying to find out what individuals can do to help.
I also disagree and believe there are still wonderful people. I wouldn't give up my neighbors (well, maybe 1) for anything.
Having said that, I have fully acknowledge the many, many problems that face Detroit. And the fragile state the City is in. We have to be very careful right now because if the correct decisions are not made the City will implode. We're on the verge of that right now.
Also, the exodus began in the early 1960's in all large cities. Because of the completion of the interstate system it became easier to live farther away, in the suburbs or country, and commute to the City for work. It was a phenomenon in all large cities.
The difference is that Detroit did nothing to stop the exodus like other large cities did. I remember Jerry Cavanaugh and Roman Gibbs talking about ideas they had to keep people living and shopping in the City. There were many articles in the papers about things that should be done. But no one thought Detroit would die because we were the Motor City.
Then Coleman Young put the nail in by telling everyone (basically the whites) to hit 8 mile and began the "separatist mentality" that is rampant today. I believe that is the major problem and what is stopping any growth on a individual or municipal basis.
Not withstanding the other "group" problems which I directly relate to the "separatist mentality." The rampant crime, the absolute failure of the school system and of course the corruption of the local government.
If Detroit would give up the idea that it doesn't need anyone's help, ie the State, burbs, a lot would change quickly. The root of the statement made by Ms. Watson regarding the Governor removing Kwame was the separatist idea. Who is she to step into our mess?
Personally I would like to see anyone say "hey, the suburbs really know how to do ________ (fill in the blank). I better talk to them for help." You won't see that, unfortunately the idea of "us v them" is fully engrained.
It's going to take long time to "fix" what is broken. Unfortunately your 20 years is probably close if we started today. As Detroit goes, so does the suburbs. Everyone has a stake in the repair.
Just a side note - Isn't it funny that GLDDET knows, or knew, so many yet never gained any knowledge? Such entertainment.

Gene210:Good morning to everyone, I love these nice big letters, they really strike your eye.
Yes indeed Gene and a fine good a.m. to you as well. Your subtle analogy to the "Scarlet Letter" can also double as the hangover view from inside the eyeball. You are constantly outdoing yourself and surprising many of us. Looks like a another fine day for Coal Black and Prince Chawmin!

Laura56, The people of Detroit are great - it is the thieves and carjackers I was referring to. You mentioned Jerry Cavanaugh and that was the era we had our restaurant on E.Jefferson and we had a small bar on Adams that was part of "black bottom" neighborhood - the people were all very friendly back then and there were a few after hour blindpigs that we were welcome into. I think drugs helped bring Detroit down too.

Oh I knew that Keo, but it was such a blanket statement that I had to respond.
I grew up in the black bottom area. There were a couple bars on Adams........ many I frequented often. :-)
Drugs were/are a problem everywhere. Not just Detroit. Our problem is that we didn't try to keep in under control. The drug dealers were able to take over because there were no residents to stop them. It became a circle where the drug dealers and other "hoodlums" eventually won.
The only time I've ever personally experience crime was in the suburbs! Troy, Royal Oak and Pontiac. I guess my house is so well fortified that they haven't tried to mess with me. Ultimately Smith and Wesson is the greatest crime determent (if used responsibly).

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! What an entertainer he was.
Now everyone in my office knows I've gone completely crazy. I was "dancing" at my desk (just from the waist up - similar to dancing while driving) and a couple people walked by and really rolled their eyes! HAHAHA They would have made Beatty proud. OK I better start working now that everyone is here (I start at 6, get so much done without distractions!)

This will be a busy day for me so I won't be able to follow this forum, but this bright, big, red font was such a cheerful thing to see that I had to bring it back up for everyone to enjoy! Have a great day all!

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor

You are definitely entitled to your opinion. But, as far as I'm concerned being the President of the City Council it's his job to be abreast of ALL the goings on be it positive, or negative. And as far as I'm concerned how can you have a co-worker who sits across from you on a regular interval, and not have some sort of idea of inpropriety going on. You know who the office supply thief is in your office. C'mon this was City business that should have made it to his desk if no one else's.
And if you say Mr. Cockrell Jr. doesn't have any skeletons in closet, you are sadly mistaken. Your so-called Mr. Perfect has litgation that he has on the hush hush right now. So again I say before you annoint him to be Saint Mr. President of City Council check with Steve Smith over at channel 7. Like I said I wouldn't give him a key to a Gym locker, let alone the key to the City.
Everybody is going to have skeletons in their closet. I don't mind Cockrel serving as interim mayor. I just want a mayor that isn't a murderer.
Or a THIEF!

Re: Council Moves to Oust Mayor
Several comments on this forum seem to imply that Detroit is lacking due to the fact that it is predominately black. I would like to remind those with this train of thought that many thriving, leading cities are also predominately black; Atlanta, Georgia is a prime example.
Living and flying all over the world (as a flight attendant) I noticed immediately not only the differences at the local Detroit level when it comes to government, but also most extensively at the Federal Level. I remember thinking it was as if Detroit had been black-balled. Like a stepchild that wasn’t quite fully welcomed to the family.
Everything from Federal City Improvement Grants, the number of liquor stores, pawn shops and strip clubs, to the quality of the television programming or food trucked here, is vastly different from other states. Even products ordered nationally or internationally seem to come from a special bin (crushed boxes, returned items, etc.) marked Detroit.
I remember while on layover asking a group of black young people wearing orange vest that were sweeping the streets in Atlanta if they were part of a summer job program, they looked at me strangely and replied no, this is our job, our streets are cleaned everyday, this is a city job.
My mind immediately flashed to the volunteer call for the residents in Detroit (whose taxes are higher by the way) to hit the streets and pick up their own garbage. After a little digging I also noted that most of their tax payer money was being utilized on public services not law suits, which in Detroit the law suits as a whole are staggering, I have yet to find one public document that list them all in one place. It is all very hush, hush and hard to find.
I must admit when asked where I am from words like, somewhere, nowhere, I don't remember, flood my mind and try to come out of my mouth, yet I stick out my chest and with a big smile say DDDDDDetroit!

Re: Kwame is scared of those texts getting out
miamia:
patersons:Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has implemented a new policy that text messages sent on city-owned devices are considered private I wonder what else he is trying to hide. Hmmmmm.
If they are considered private, why is the city and taxpayers are paying for them, each individual should pay for their own would save the city some money
Exactly Miamia...good point.
Where is LizMurdo/TeDBare/Newguy/Firevixen????? Anybody see them on any other forums?

Oh My God , did anyone just see on 7 The “Kwam” just reversed his stance regarding privacy requirements on text messages. Now he said you can expect SOME element of privacy on the city owned text pagers. OMG, What an IDIOT. Now if that doesn't scream GUILTY I don't know what does. Beatty's going to get him.
