taxpayer:
Is Kwame still in Texas on vacation? Why Texas? Please forgive me, I have been out of the loop for some time.
When is he supposed to be back and when does he start serving his sentence? Where are his wife and bratty lil kids going to live?
Sorry if this has all been covered before. I'm too old and lazy to search through the messages and I want sesame street gratification dammit! lol I loved that phrase.
We have no idea why kk goes to Texas. He is back in town, but have not heard where. October 28th is only 16 days away.
CB has some court dates coming up. I think the 15th is motions hearing.

Good Sunday morning to all. I did get out yesterday with the hubby after complaining for two weeks. We went to Blocks Vegetable Store in Romulus at the corner of Middlebelt and Eureka Rd. They have some really big cabbages there. I plan to make some relish. Really good prices on most freshly picked veggies and fruits.
Well is today we have a winner from the Lions??

Laura56: get real:If you had purchased $1,000 of AIG stock one year ago, you would have $42 left.
With Lehman, you would have $6.60 left.
With Fannie or Freddie, you would have less than $5 left.
But if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all of the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND, you would have had $214.
Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.
It's called the 401-Keg.....
VERY FUNNY!!!! Thanks get real.
The ironic part of all of this is most people own stock in their 401k or other retirement plan and can't touch it or for many accounts have no say on the investment. So we can't take it out to make it safe. The money was never real, it was just numbers. All we know is that the numbers are less -- the impact hasn't really hit. If it had, there would be a real uprising!!
My new investment plan is to work 5 years longer than I had planned.

Good morning everyone. It is a gorgeous day . Enjoy the best an Indian summer has to offer. Block's Vegetable is an awesome place. Reminds me of my days when I worked on Northline.

Laura56: Tushana:Have another beautiful day...I hope you were all out yesterday enjoying the weather!
Good morning Tushana, and everyone else!! I hope that everyone was outside yesterday too, I sure was!! Today through Tuesday night are suppose to be gorgeous too. I hope everyone gets outside as much as possible because it won't be long and we'll be thinking 40 degrees and rain isn't too bad!!
ok I want to share my day that I had with you on Saturday............totally off topic.
- went to Detroit to spend the day with my brother
- did get lost driving through downtown but with cell phones he brought me back to where he was waiting. I am horrific with directions and should invest in a GPS
- We hit Avalon bakery...indulged in organic green tea, blueberry muffin and saved the brownie and date nut bar for breakfast
- From there we went to Forman Mills @ Warren and Conner and I bought a hoodie for 9.99!
- From there back to his condo to get the bikes. He purchased one for 13.50 at the Salvation Army. He did minor repair on wheel and we were off. Totally free and all I had to do was follow and not crash. I am ashamed to admit it rode as well as the bike I purchased in the spring. I won't even give you the proce difference.
- We rode and rode with the sun and the breeze. We went to the Riverwalk, parked the bicycles and walked.
- We made a wish at the fountain but you can only make wishes with pennies. My thinking :) My brother just stepped aside...and let me enjoy my conversation with a homeless man I approached for a penny! This man was so generous! Think about that! I told him he probably had a million stashed away and he was just working the streets. He laughed and left happy and I felt so blessed. I originally was going to exchange a nickel for the penny but opted for a dollar.
- From there we just walked...walked the streets of downtown...went into the Guardian building to just see the beauty in the work...the tiles...the colors...the marble.
- Back to the Riverwalk and sat on the patio of the Omi Hotel...soaked in the sun, the view of the water and watching the sun just beginning to get ready for sunset.
- We biked to Sweet Lorraines for dinner. Biked back to the condo and I drove back to the suburbs carrying all the memories of the beautiful sites and people with me until the next time. I always leave a little bit of my heart and spirit there.
- Detroit is so beautiful and has so much to offer. I miss not living there so much. If only we could all work and make it happen. Not just in Detroit but in the world.
- I took Grand River straight down and even was thrilled see the Forgotten Harvest trucks out really "taking care of business as usual." :) That is my favorite place to do my voulunteer work. I enjoy the physical labors....rather than the office work.
Like I said...I am totally off topic but I so much wanted to share with you...we have never met but we have been on this forum for a very long time. Raystars trip to the market in Romulus prompted me to share my day. Now to all a very wonderful and blessed day. :)

You'll love the place. Wow you had a beautiful day. I have never seen the Riverwalk. Shame on me. I live in the city. Downtown to me is going to the casinos. I got lost downtown in a roundabout trying to get to Wooodward from Cobo two weeks ago. I was so surprised at how they have changed the streets. I also did not know Comerica place was across from the Fox theater. I felt like I was visiting another city. Retirement has got me glued to my chair.
Tushana I did not mean to go off the deep end. OK the Lions are on now. Bye I apologize for my post. Enjoy the sunshine.

Occasional off topic is nice especially when it was such a wonderful experience. Makes me want to go back to Detroit. I would love to see the riverwalk area.

Not to make fun of you Raystar but you are probably one of one person that still has hopes for the Lions. But enjoy the game, they definetly are a topic of many conversations (not good).

Re: Article in Flint Journal
I just found this article, (couldn't copy the top showing header and daate 10 12 08 )
The Flint Journal, writer John Tomlinson
Particularly like the statement in regards to voters in Michigan vote for the same person decade after decade........................................
*********************************************************************
Why did Sen. John McCain pull out of Michigan?
Knee-jerk voters.
A new Rasmussen Poll said 59 percent of Americans believe our legislators are so inept, they'd vote to replace the entire Congress. I bet the other 41 percent live in Michigan.
Maybe McCain pulled out because he found us so stuck on stupid, he decided to go to where people would listen
He realized what we all realize. Voters in Michigan vote for the same person decade after decade, even after that person proves to be the worst imaginable one for the job.
According to the 2008 University of Michigan Millennium Report, Detroit is now the poorest city in America. Yet its residents, knowing the devastation firsthand, continued to vote for Kwame Kilpatrick like he was Coleman Young.
Or take U.S. Sen. Carl Levin. According to the report, Michigan is 46th in the nation at getting federal tax dollars back as budget expenditures. The Keynesian multiplier, a way to calculate the economic effect of this shortfall, says this had three times the effect of the auto industry contraction on our state's economy.
Further, we only get back 92 percent of federal taxes on gasoline purchased in our state. The shortfall, about $90 million, which should go to repair Michigan roads and bridges, gets spent in other states.
Why? Because Levin, whose responsibility it is to oversee getting that money back, is so busy trying to affect the surrender of U.S. forces to al-Qaida in Iraq, he doesn't have time to help Michigan. Yet this fall, he's going to again win by a landslide. Name the last great thing he did for the people of Michigan. I can't. Can you?
According to the report, Michigan has become, under the last eight years of Democrat leadership, including representation at the state and federal levels, all of the following:
• 50th in the nation in personal income growth.
• 50th in the nation in its unemployment rate.
• 50th in the nation in employment growth.
• 50th in the nation in the Index of Economic Momentum.
This happened because we will not change. We're now below Mississippi and still falling. How long will it be before Detroit begins to envy Beirut? Thanks to our legislators, we have nothing on the horizon to stop this free-fall.
Nevertheless, we're voting for Barack Obama. We want the guy who, getting enormous amounts of cash from Fannie Mae, second only to Sen. Christopher Dodd, helped block the 2005 Fannie Mae reform designed to prevent the current collapse. Just as an aside, McCain sponsored that bill.
But don't worry, with McCain gone, we'll keep voting Democratic like always, and everything will be just hunky-dory. Yes?

I kind of had the same response, had to go back and read it again. I sent it to my 100% Obama son. And there is nothing wrong with that, he has his choice. Just know I am sure to get a very negative response back from him. Oh well. I so much agree with the voter apathy. I had read some replies to the article and I guess the Keynesian multiplier is misnamed, not that the name mattered to me, I agree with this fact.
Why do the people of Michigan continue to do the same stupid thing over and over again?
Beats me
Sorry Raystar about the Lions, I actually thought they were going to do it. But NO, not this time. Maybe next time. Actually doesn't matter now.
And how about U of M.

Freman Hendrix announces another run for Detroit mayor
Ex-Detroit mayoral candidate Freman Hendrix says he's running again.
The one-time deputy mayor announced Sunday he's entering the Feb. 24 special mayoral primary. Hendrix currently is Eastern Michigan University's chief of government relations.
Kwame Kilpatrick won re-election in 2005 over Hendrix but resigned last month as part of a plea deal that's sending him to jail for 120 days.
Democratic state Sen. Buzz Thomas took out petitions Friday to seek to complete Kilpatrick's term. And ex-city councilman the Rev. Nicholas Hood III tells the Detroit Free Press he'll run, too.
Mayor Ken Cockrel Jr. has said he'll run in the nonpartisan election after succeeding Kilpatrick. Businessman and NBA Hall of Famer Dave Bing also has picked up petitions.
Tuesday is the petition deadline. The runoff is May 5.
