    Granholm Approval Rating Lowest Ever

Governor Granholm's job approval rating is the lowest it has ever been, a new poll shows.

In the survey of 600 likely voters, 66 percent gave the Democratic governor a negative job rating. Her previous low mark was a 59 percent negative rating in November, when she easily won re-election for a second term.

The poll was conducted by EPIC-MRA of Lansing for WXYZ and The Detroit News. It had a sampling error margin of plus or minus four percentage points.

Poll respondents said they still like the governor.

Fifty-two percent gave her an overall favorable rating, compared with 42 percent unfavorable.

What do you think? Is the governor doing a good job? Do you have any suggestions of how she can improve?

If any of us had the outcome in our jobs that she has we would have been our of a job months ago, let alone get another four years to prove how incompetant we really are. Our economy gets worse every month.  Thousand are out of jobs, businesses are closing, people are loosing their homes, the unemployement rate is going up....when will people wake up and impeach this governor who is all talk and no action other than looking for ways to raise the taxes.

    Totally Agree!

As for the Taxes, she wants to double the Tobacco Taxes making them 64% the 3rd highest in the U.S. I don't know who tells her these ideas of taxation but this is not the cure. If this Tobacco Tax goes through it close more store putting more people out of work.

Re: Granholm Approval Rating Lowest Ever

Grandholm doesn't understand what it takes to even keep small business in this state; let alone trying to help Big Business. I think that we need someone in the Capital that knows how to run a business and has been a business man or woman.. If we ran our own businesses so far in debt and covered it up;  you know where we would be: out on our butt and probably in jail for the coverup...

She has had everything handed to her  by other politicians and where does it get us the small business person. Pushed right out of the state..... I heard today that over 350,000 people plan to move elsewhere because of the economy in Michigan. If so many people move their familes elsewhere; who is going to pay all the ""taxes"" she plans to raise.

So much for all the propoganda last election. We were in bad shape then; but it was all covered up during the election. Who knew we were in debt so much. The Democrats all did; but failed to reveal all the details. Now they want to tax us out of the state. Businesses are moving elsewhere everyday. Why can't the government be more Business friendly so we can maintain them in our state. "Other states laugh at us because we are so blind as to what our state gov. does".

I grew up in this state and have been in a family that always had a small business, but soon may also escape to another state because of the attitude toward a family trying to make a living.....

pensive1 listed a reply to another person the other day about the proposed tobacco tax. After going home and referring to my Go For It calendar that same day, I was surprised to see the following quote for the day as follows:

Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot. by Unknown Applies to many areas of life. Just food for thought.

Re: Granholm Approval Rating Lowest Ever

I think Granholm should go to Europe and promote the state of Michigan.  I know that Patterson only went to Europe to promote the Oakland County area and not the whole state of Michigan.  I know Govenor Granholm will do better for the whole state by going to Europe and not just one county like Patterson did.  I do not believe this is not a vacation for her as some claim this trip is, but a true help for the state.  I think she is trying her best to bring new industries and business in to this state.  I applaude her efforts.

    Sincerley,

Wendy: You applaud her efforts!!!! Now I'm blown away. Do youo applaud her spouse having his OWN staff at tax payeer expense. the staff is the largest in the couontry only out done by the spouses of the governors in Ohio and California. Why not start the trimming there? Do you applaud her effort to build a State Police Hdqtrs that the police never asked for. Building it in a flood plain, with no parking and no heliopad? Do you applaud that she spent 117 million to do so and gave the job to a friend and supporter withouot a bid process? Do you applaud the decision to build a fouontain on capitol grounds at a cost of 2 million? Do you applaud the fact there are now more state employees than there are workers in the manufacturing sector. Why not trim there? Do you applaud the poor state worker whose salary and fringes ( excluding the governor, legislators and judiciary) earn a paultry $75,000 per annum with 49 days of leave per yeat (26 vacation, 12 sick and 12 holidays) while everyone else in the state in the private sector earn $58,000/yr on average with much less time off. The fact is savings couold be had from many sources other than taxing those of us taxed to the limit already. Wake up!! People like you are why we are in trouble in this state. Uninformed!!!

Re: Granholm Approval Rating Lowest Ever

I feel she is doing a bad job for Michigan. I see more shops closing and more housing going up for sale. If I were Governor, I would 1st put a cap on welfare limit, along with having people on welfare cleaning up the city and area where they live to earn what they get. There are to many people taking advantage of the system and we the tax payers are paying for it. Are the prople on welfare paying for the increase in taxes? Are the people in jail paying the increase? No, it's the hard working people in MICHIGAN, who are not aliens, or immigrants getting freebies or hand-outs. It's not our Officials taking a paycut. If officials had to work for the people like it was intented for like back in the 1800's and their pay was according to how they served the people, we propably would not have anyone in office because they take office for the money and not for the people. That's why we are in the state of finance that we are now. POLITICIAN GREED!

                                                                                                           Thank you

wow how many people will tune into the central v ball state game?
What a choice, if i were a advertiser on wxyz today I'd want my money back, as maybe 50 viewers will be watching. Fact is more people will be caravaning to the unshown away michigan game than watching central on the tv.

Re: Granholm Approval Rating Lowest Ever

I just dont understand it anymore first, Hurricane Jenny blows us away with a tax raise and now i pick up the paper and read that the  Democratic Leaders of her own party running for the  most inportent job  in our country and maybe the world have said NO!! to Michigan, will some one tell me how this can be true, where a black man trying to be the first of his race to be  pres. of this beloved country can thumb his nose at Michigan and Detroit, and our GOV wants new jobs and new people to say yes ,so u say that  the Gov has a 66% negative job rating well  that means theres still 34% that think shes ok and  thats a shame a shame on all of us for not looking for a change when we had the chance,  so go ahead GOV blow us all away u only got 66% with the first shot> This long time Den voter is looking at the  Gop this time at least they came here and showed we matter .

Re: Granholm Approval Rating Lowest Ever

It was the lesser of two evils, DeVoss or old Jenny. I went with Jenny because she had more leadership than  DeVoss . As far as her performance goes, time will tell. I see what she is doing about the economy. She is trying to make us enter into a new type of economy where we are building products, vehicles and ethanol to globaly get us out of the dependency from the middle east and the Automotive jobs that make up alot of our economy here in Michigan. But she cannot keep taxing us the way she is or people and corporations will not want to reside here in this state. Also! it really is a shame that only a few years ago in Lansing, all the reprentatives voted  a wage increase for their jobs, How convenient! I would start with wage cuts to these politicians that are supposed to represent us. These fat cats have been taking advantage of us far to long. Enough banquets, luncheons, vacations, plane and limosine rides on the tax payers money. This is the reason why the working man and women cannot believe in the system, because the liars are running the show. When polititions start doing right by us we might start believing in them again.

Re: Granholm Approval Rating Lowest Ever

Befor she had become Governor of this great state Michigan was in big trouble, with over 300,000 jobs lost.Do the math! we lost a lot of tax base people who did'nt leave the state took jobs at lower wages.Everybody wants to put the blame on whoever is in office at the time.where the blame should be is with the planers of our so called future of this state. The big 3 blamed Japan for all it's woe's,some blame big goverment, and the list gos on.In the 50's,60's,70's car plants were running 24-7 this will neaver happen again,we have to deal with that fact.I vote for who I think will do his or her best not a tight party line, and I feel she has been doing the best she can with what she has to work with.  RobertAlan
