Re: Admonished by Judge, Mayor Denies Blame

    just amazed:
    Cheryl48:

From the WXYZ Site a few minutes ago:

(WXYZ) -- A day after a judge lashed out upon learning Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick had skipped a court hearing and taken a trip to Texas, the mayor tells WXYZ the uproar "had nothing to do with me."

Kilpatrick talked with WXYZ's Val Clark Wednesday afternoon after refusing to answer questions from other reporters about the courtroom uproar and why he'd left town.

The mayor's latest public relations crisis started Tuesday morning when he didn't show up for a hearing in his criminal case. When told Kilpatrick was in Texas for city business, 36th District Court Judge Ronald Giles lashed out at his lawyers.

"These hearings hold precedent over... I don't care if he's meeting with the president," Giles said angrily in court. "He's to be here for these hearings. He's a defendant in a criminal proceeding. We have these hearings. He's a defendant in a criminal proceeding, period."

In his first comments about the judge's remarks, Kilpatrick said he was not to blame for the situation.

"I think that one of the things that unfortunate about this whole thing is that got spinned into this story. No. The judge, it was a short time line between he and my attorney.

"That had nothing to do with me. And the judge admonished me through my attorney because he and my attorney had conversations about it. But I think everything is fine now. We followed the court order to a tee.

"One of the things I don't do now is any misstepping. So everything we do is done carefully, is done with regard for the job that I have, my family, and the citizens of the city of Detroit. So we're going to continue to do that. And so, you know, I hope that the judge and court understand that I respect it immensely."

The mayor would not explain his trip other than to say it was city business.

"I think that one of the things that unfortunate about this whole thing is that got spinned into this story. No. The judge, it was a short time line between he and my attorney. "

What is he saying here???? This is supposed to be an educated, articulate man speaking. He's running scared.

Also, once again, nothing is his fault.

First off he states it had nothing to do with him.  Oh it must have been some other mayor that is being charged.

Then he says the story got spinned into this.  You are the only one spinning the story.

Then he says this was between the judge and his attorney.  Oh so that is why the judge stated in open court that YOU, the Defendant was to be present.

And to conclude he states I now don't do any mistepping???????   You go to Texas on city business that you won't divuldge what it is,  You miss a court hearing because you until this time thought you were above that.  Your spokespersons are continuing to lie for you and they don't even know what you are doing, except it must be legal business.

I think Kwame and the Judge discussed the problem over dinner last night.  What kind of crap is this?  The song and dance the judge performed in court was just for show, it certainly didn't mean anything, did it.
