    Tantra,

Have fun on vacation and love the ST. Clair River...spent my young adult summers there and seriously had an awesome time.  Back in the day w/ little responsibilities.  Those were the days.  Even thought about buying a house/cottage there.

    Thanks Kimberly.

We love life on the river. The good news is that we are upstream of Mt. Clemens and the Clinton River of Sewage. I can see the bottom of the St. Clair River. My kids routinely go up to Port Huron and float back down tying all of their inner tubes together and finally getting back to our house. It is also routine for the Coast Guard (both Canadian and US) to "pull them over" and ask for ID. Not sure where they think 17 year old girls would be keeping their passports in a bikini... but maybe that's the point :)

St. Clair has become Grosse Pointe North, or as I am fond of saying, "it is the like the Grosse Pointe I grew up in". People buy homes on the River and tear them down to build new. There are no more cottages unless you head south of Marine City toward Algonac, or over to Harsen's. Even Harsen's is becoming more full year homes than cottages.

St. Clair is one of those places you don't accidently end up in. We are far enough away from the freeway. We do get quite a bit of summer traffic with the Chuck Muer's River Crab here, the marina, and the boat races. We have become home to many retired hockey players, and others that no longer have to consider the long commute. I think I am one of the few fools left that drive 70 miles each way to work.

Most of the younger families that are here, are here for their children. It is a nice place to grow up. We don't lock our doors, and leave our keys in our cars. Unfortunately, our little world here is being tipped a bit because of the new auto plant being built almost next to the River Crab. I believe it is Chrysler that is building it (I am sure someone on here knows more about it than I do). I have a hard time understanding why they had to build it here. There are so many communities that have plants that are closing. It just seems that it would make more sense to replace one of those, since the workers already live near them.

May I ask what in the he11 does this self absorbed post have to do with Kwame Kilpatrick and the text message scandal?

Who cares where you live or how wonderful you think you are? The readers here don't. Want a private conversation go somewhere else.

Motown... perhaps when/if you've read all of the WXYZ forums since January, you'll notice that occasionally they do go off topic. The post was clearly marked off topic, so it should have been easy to skip it if you're were not interested.

Please, we're making a determined effort to be civil to each other.

Cheryl....going 'off topic' is one thing, but THIS, is over the top!  pleeeeeeeeeeze!
