Hello everyone...

I just spoke to Kathy 1007 and I wanted to share with you what I just said to her:  We are not shutting down this forum.  We recognize that many of you have come to enjoy the conversations that take place here each day.  Here at WXYZ, we certainly do not want to put an end to that.

As you've probably noticed, we've built a new system that allows users to post comments alongside each news story on our website.  We've seen a wonderful response to the new comment system and - as you've all discussed here - we are linking to this older forum system pretty sparingly these days.

If you haven't already checked it out, I invite you each to post comments on individual WXYZ.com stories.  I think you'll find that the new comment system has helped us to create even more wonderful discussions between our users each day.  The vast majority of our stories attract lively, well-informed commentators...  just like yourselves!

As this old system has become fairly unwieldy, I would love to see more of you migrate to the story-level comments.  I hope you find the conversations to be a bit more focused and topical.

Of course, I do recognize that it is nice to have a forum like this one that is so open ended.  We'll keep it up and running indefinitely, but - as I said - you'll see us link to it with less frequency.
