Comedian/actress Whoopi Goldberg is the new moderator/co-host of the ABC talk show The View.

Barbara Walters made the annoucement on the show Wednesday morning, along with fellow co-hosts Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

The Oscar winner will start her new job on September 4.

I think Whoopie is a great choice.

I think Whoopi is a great choice. I quit watching when Rosie left. When Barbara Walters is not there I cannot stand to listen to Elisabeth Hasselbeck. She is very rigid in veiws and extremely demanding to be heard. Perhaps Whoopi could derail her like Rosie did in a funny way. I just hope that the powers that be allow her the chance to do so.

I can't wait for Whoopi to join The View.  She has always impressed me as a smart, witty, wry and insightful woman.  I hope she speaks her mind.

No, after things did not work out with Star Jones, it seems like they would hire a White person.  It seems like the black people did not work out, so why go for that kind of trouble again.  At least they did not hire another Lesbian to talk about their children and girlfriend.....
